Backfire

is it bad if your car is backfiring? from exhaust and is running 15 pound boost on a s14 with a s15 turbo..running pretty big intercooler high for everday driving could turbo blow?

the s15 turbo will take 15psi on everyday use. plenty of people do it. that said, the higher the boost the sooner it is likely to blow, but that said, plenty of people have had the turbo let go at much less pressure.

as for the backfiring, what sort of backfiring, and when does it do it. is it just a popping when you are boosting it and not an actual big bang, or is it when you have lifted off and are slowing down?

na not when i boost or anything its sorta when i drop gears or am going abit fast and let go of accelrator but doesnt happen constantly

ok, well if it is only when you lift of then if could be 1 of a few things. your cat could be gone, or if you have an atmo bov then that will be the cause. either way, nothing really to worry about

yeah im putting money on atmo bov

but yeah man its normal, and as your getting off the throttle theres not load on the engine so its fine, change your sparkplugs maybe..

my money's on atmo BOV with unburnt fuel in exhaust, work everytime
