Looks like I have to repaint my kitchen earlier than I'd planned - bubbling paint on the walls, doh

Currently working on getting power to my "workshop", so need a sparky to put in some external powerpoints, then I'm fitting a instant gas hot water system to replace the shitty expensive electroc one, so I also need a plumber/gasfitter.

Also designing my garage

Yeah sound good.

$5K!!!

Well you know being in a band is an investment.

You played any shows yet?

You either make it or brake it, so play a lot of shows, sell merchandise and EP's.

Most importantly is playing shows, release the EP then worry about all the marketing / T-Shirts / stickers later.

Get your name out there in the local scene, the word will spread, ppl will ask for an EP or download it LOL!

When ppl really like your music, they will want to buy merch (T-Shirt / Hoddie) whatever.

Spend your money on the band wisely, spend on guitar strings, guitars, amps, leads, pedals, equipment as they will all help you make / write music.

Music (band) will show who you are and at the end of the day, it makes you money.

Some bands 'sell out' and only do it for the money some stay true and keep the enthusiasm and make money.

We're going in the total opposite direction. I haven't even jammed with the singer before. The first time we play together will be in the studio :P

We're hitting the internet first and seeing how many fans that can pull. With the right marketing you can get signed without playing a single show (just look at that little Justin Bieber kid, all it took was some youtubing).

And it's not exactly a band. It's my solo project with someone else singing.

With my shitty vocals and bedroom recordings I've already been in the Triple J Unearthed charts (check the pop ones, I'm sure I'm still up there) so I'm really expecting to go places with the new stuff.

I wouldn't mind doing gigs but my singer would be way too busy (he does Rod Laver shows, no shit).

I have no idea why he has any interest with working with someone at my level but he says he sees potential.

what type of music you guys making jezza?

Acoustic/pop/rock. Most guys won't get into it but it's what I write best and girls love it. So that's my target audience.

^ Got some stuff there. If you have 5 minutes to spare, rate me 5 stars or leave a good review :)

lol jizzy boy... acoustic rock is my fav genre. Like Mraz, Tristan Prettyman, Gavin DeGraw, Marc Broussard and Jamie Cullum.

That said, most of them sing quirky shit, not lovey dovey teen romance stuff. I'll still give your stuff a listen.

Yeah, last.fm is a good one :P I'm making a list of places to market. I reckon there's at least 100 well known sites.

Once the stuff is recorded I'm going to go apeshit and post everywhere.

As for style, I'd compare myself more to Teddy Gieger, Evermore (old stuff), Coldplay (old stuff) etc.

bubbling paint on the walls is a bit random, but re-painting is pretty easy

im almost done my house, just got one roof section to do, all up nearly $1100 for everything, so just kitchen will be cheap

I could no give a fuck about Justin Bieber who is just another sell out product of a Island Records who would end up like Brittany / Christina and other one hit wonder shit singer / band(s)

But if you want to take the same approach as he did, then sure go ahead.

The Triple J Charts would have helped you.

You have a Myspace, you can also upload to Pure Volume.com, make a landing website with just a media player and upload your tracks there, like a home website...

I did the other way by playing live shows.

Nothing beats a live show IMO.

I listen to some Acoustic / Pop / Rock.

Mainly Dashboard Confessional and bands who have done Acoustic versions of their tracks.

Gave them a listen. Best of luck with your EP, let us all know how it goes :)

Thanks for taking the time to listen :) It's still a few months off but I will definitely let you all know how it goes.

I was only using Justin as an example. My point was that the internet is a huge marketing tool these days.

If there is enough online demand for local gigs then I'll see what I can do. All comes down to my singer though.

If there was big $$ involved then he might be persuaded :P

There are shitloads of sites like MySpace and PureVolume (no kidding, I know about 30). I will be signing up and tackling them all.

Any exposure is good exposure :P

Yeah, I see where you are coming from with Justin Bieber. :)

Did you say your singer was off AUS Idol?

Sounds like he's in it for the money and fame rather then the love of music... That's how I see it, I could be wrong...

In all honesty, I would not approach anyone from AUS Idol or AUS Got Talent shit but that is just me.

Is he a good singer?

The internet is the pretty much the way to get your name out across the world.

It's a good thing = World wide exposure for everyone to see.

Ppl download now, who buys a CD these days unless you want the original copy of the performers music.
