I'm planning on running antilag on my R32 gtst targa car. I'm running a RB26 throttle setup (using the RB26 injector plate, through to plenum), will the aac valve flow enough air on closed throttle to run antilag properly, or will i have to prop the throttles open/run kicker soleniod/run bigger aac valve?

That thread is useless. This guy is using it for a Targa car and is asking a legit question! I have only used Group N on my car so I cannot help.. Interested in knowing what you find out though

So did you have the throttle jamed a certain % open, or use a throttle kicker?

I'm running a Haltech Platinum Sport 2000

Yeah i opened the throttle to 15% and i use the vipec ecu with cycle idle

The AAC doesn't allow air enough for proper anti lag - your talking 40degrees retard to get boost at idle plus you want at least 2000-2500rpm if not more. I would be selecting another ecu as well - something that has a proven track record in group N - like Autronic or Motec. You really want closed loop boost control as well - to limit overboost. A "throttle kicker" maybe the best way as you only need a small change in tps to get a large change in airflow when you have 6 tb's.

I'm not expecting boost at idle, just trying to bring to take a chunk of lag out of the poor rb20. I'll give it a crack with the aac first, who knows may be surprised. At the end of the day it's pretty easy to prop the throttles open with the rb26 adjustible linkages.

I'm sure the Haltech will be fine, it has closed loop boost, all the antilag settings for antilag retard, fuel, rotational idle...ect. Alot of cars down here (tassie) are running Haltech. I'd rather stab myself in the face than use the Autronic software, and i'm not morgaging my house for a motec.

Hey I dont mean to seem like I am hijacking here. But to get a bigger IAC valve, what would you get?

My stock IAC doesnt have anywhere to go on the current plenum I have. Was wondering if I got a different IAC (brand, shape, size etc), is there one that would just would work with the stock wiring loom. Granted I may have to wire a different plug onto the end of it.

Also is there one that will simply attach via a tube so I can connect it to the plenum via a hose instead of having to get the plenum cut and thread tapped into it to bolt it on?

Sorry about the slight hijacking.

i had this issue so i used a pice of 6mm alloy and made a plate for the alve to bolt onto then i got a 5/8 weld on fitting welded on to the 6mm plate. walla. i can mount the idle valve where ever. its just a matter of plumbing it in.

Ahh ok yeh that sounds like a good idea  Should give that a go.

Cheers

    • You see R34 GTRs listed for 200-300k are they really selling for these prices? Kinda seems like the same ones listed all the time. Even with R33 GTSTs looking at gumtree. You have an auto with a bitsa interior for 35k. Another one needs an engine rebuild and asking 24k. And then you have a stock in better than average condition for 45k. Nobody is ever going to pay these prices.
    • Only needed to pull out the seats, center console and gear shifter surround, took a weekend and a fair few beers. You get to look forward to finding all sorts of weird shit under the seats and carpet, I pulled out a Chinese dudes passport from 2003, 220 yen and a condom wrapper 😆
    • Well, turns out not a lot happened from back then to now, between life again, and working on 3 separate other cars (only one of which was mine, and will now be departing the household soon).   So I decided with the whole "don't go outside, it's a cyclone!" Turning in to being not a whole lot, I ventured down to the garage, found a couple of water leaks in the shed (the main one I've already fixed), and then ended up "stuck" as it started pouring rain, and I didn't want to walk back inside in the pouring rain. This meant I ended up taking a look at the Skyline, and trying to work out what past Matt had been upto. I retraced a few things out from scratch, added the rest of the power feeds in that I needed for the indicators, and headlights. Double checked I'd wired a few things up correctly (and worked out how I wired a few things to begin with), updated my sparse notes. Added one of the ground points. Oh, and got really really dusty, as the car is quite dirty. Wrote up quickly what should be left for me to do with the wiring too. Adding the below photos more for my records than anything else. I need to make myself a proper book for the car that details everything, and how I've done it, but for now, this is my records... The third image is my most important one for me, and I need to draw it out into a proper schematic eventually. The last photo is my re-written list, I'd have put it on the white board, except I had to take the white board down to fix one of the water leaks.
    • Can try Maxima. Or random Infiniti models from the same era. Good luck with your hunt, let us know what you find!
