personally, i think the turbo is a bit too big for rb20, and for such power, power FC will be my choice

Thats fine if you can get a Power FC for RB20s. SAS quoted me around $800 + dyno time which worked out to around $1100-1400 total, so check with them re that figure.

Do you have the specs on the HKS TO4E, Ive only seen HKS TO4S & TO4R. If you are planning on modifying the existing/std exhaust manifold to run the external gate, then you may find the cost and overall performance can be matched by something like a (everyones favourite :P ) 2nd hand HKS 2530.

The HKS TO4 range of turbos are big and not exactly intended for internally std 2.0L engines, especially one with a not so ideal exhaust manifold. (assuming you dont have an aftermarket one)

What power are you aiming for? The HKS TO4S is still rated at 550hp. Also dont go paying extra for the 700cc injectors if you can get 550cc cheaper (from an RX-7)

t04e is the most popular turbo + manifold combo for older RX7's and RB20DET's in japan. They're dirt cheap too, like about 1k for the turbo, maifold, wastegate etc. dun expect stainless steel tho... bit too old.

So those that i have seen with the cast manifold that mount the wastegate up high near the strut is a TO4E??? What are they rated at?

the HKS kit was a lowmount from memory. It was good for around 190-230rwkw depending on what else you modified.

I'm tossin up between this setup and a TD06 atm.
