so the clutch peddal in my mates 33 is squicking like a bastard. i got in the foot well to have a look but in such tight qurters its hard to tell where the sound is coming from but seems to be the master cylinder... is this a usual cercumstance in 33s?

Squeaking noise? its probably just coming from the pedal itself, mine does it and its just the spring or some part of the pedal that needs to be lubed. Try spraying some WD40 or something around the pedal bracket and see if it helps

here is the thread where i say how to lube up the pivot bolt. if you scroll down there will be a pic i took as well. it was longer ago than what i thought (2006)

but it will only help if the noise isn't coming from inside the car. often the pivots of the clutch pedal get dry and noisey and sometimes even the mounting brackets snap

  • 2 weeks later...

yeah chail lube. Try and get the Finish Line MTB dry chain lube. It has teflon in it but it goes on wet and dries so no drippy drippy and no gunk gets stuck to it. Can't imagine anything worse than WD40 on a pedal, except maybe armour all on anything!

Don't do WD40, shit will make you high for weeks and the smell just doesn't go away. I've got floormats in storage that still smell of the stuff - and it was 5 years ago that I sprayed the WD40 on the clutch pedal of the car they were in.

Worth checking the boot of the slave cylinder's pivot point too...I always put some grease in there from time to time just to keep things running smooth. Seems to help with the squeaking.
