Hey,

I was cleaning my AFM today when i noticed there was a plug/socket (grey plug with no wires attached to a small black box) on the top of the engine, just near the intake plenum which looked a bit odd because there was nothing plugged into it.

so i googled a few pictures of rb25det's and they all seem to have something plugged into it.

here is a picture of what mine looks like,

and here is one that I googled looks like,

ecr33engine.jpg

Also how much should the stock boost gauge read on a manual r33 with a blitz catback.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Cheers,

Scott

the good news is you do have the plug....its only the wiring to the plug that is missing!

no idea what it is, its plugged into the throttle body but it can't be the throttle position sensor unless your car runs horribly or not at all

its the throttle valve switch connector/sensor (Automatics)

page EN-68 in the R33 workshop manual

normal boost should be about 5ish psi with a catback (somewhere in between -7 and 0 on the factory gauge)

cheers heaps guys I just bought the car a few days ago and was stressing a little haha..... When i hit boost the factory guage boosts to about the half way line between 0 and +7 on the gauge, is that correct? Also why do you recomend mod wise first, bigger fmic or full turbo back exhaust?

Cheers again

if you've got the stock air box, get yourself a decent panel filter or go get a decnt pod filter (if you want to go down that path), 3 inch exhaust turbo back (or keep your catback) up to you, then you can start thinking about a front mount

cheers for the advice, i have a pod filter on the way, got an apexi power intake, so ill install it as soon as it arrives......As for the next step, wasnt sure whether to go turbo back exhaust or fmic, you recomend exhaust first though yes?

cheers

personally i'd go exhaust 1st (with a highflow cat), as the above fella said, thats just my opinion haha, my reasoning is, why upgrade your cooler to a front mount if you havent got the exhaust to capture the extra gasses. (note: there wont be a massive amount more, however every little bit of exhaust scavenging won't hurt)

that would hopefully stop all the popping sound from an exhaust if its just cat back.

then get your cooler. :(

just my advice
