actually phuong, they take the photo before you go past them if its on the other side of the road and your heading front on with them.

otherwise, they take it after you have past them if you were coming from behind them on the same side of the road. the picture can be taken from both front and back if it is a mobile vechile with a speed camera init.

i haven't see a fixed camera take a front on picture before.

Red light speed cameras only take photos from where the pole actually is, if your heading away from it (pass it then go through the intersection) it takes a photo of your plate only, as your cars too close to get a picture of the back of your head, if your going through the intersection with the camera on the opposite side of the road facing you, it will take a picture of the whole front end of your car.. Thats just my guess and allaberating on what Damo has said.... Like he said, how can it take a photo of your face if you've passed the camera - Exactly.... theres no camera on the opposite side of the road just there to take a photo of your face.....
