FAQ:

But I have another competition licence? thats ok we will accept them as well.

Blah Blah, Passengers? No

What is Motorkhana? A series of short tight manouvering tests with the winner decided on the lowest total time, taking the best time from each test ran. The corners are marked by flags wich will be approx. 1m tall.

Car Restrictions? If your imports all busted up at the shop, bring your girlfriends car, you can both have a laugh! There is Scrutineering but just to make sure everythings bolted in tight, like batteries, seats and belts. Please be a little sensible in the noise department. Any tyre marked "for racing use only" is banned. Semi-slicks are good, full slicks bad. MUST HAVE EFFECTIVE MUFFLER. If its mech. sound, you can enter it.

Got any Food man? DRIFTMOB will be catering with a bbq all day. And as always, drinks will be on ice all day. As the venue is a Uni, there is no shop/fuel on site.

Ive never competed before... Dont worry, our friendly crew can help you get all of the paperwork in order on the day, and there will be experienced drivers in each category to help you improve your technique throughout the day.

My road licence is suspended/ I havent got one... Its only used for ID, the AASA licence is seperate, like going go karting.

Why do we need this event? Alot of people want higher speed events, and better quality venues, closer to home. Well I have got the keys to the new venue, but with conditions on maximum speed during competition this closes the door on open and flowwing layouts. Never fear, Ive already got my eye on my next venue and new challenge for everyone. Ill keep you posted :P

How should I setup my car? Set it up how you would normally drive it, perhaps on a spare set of tyres. No loose items in your car.

I look forward to seeing heaps of you out there, from beginners to experienced speed freaks. Entries will be capped at 45 to ensure everyone gets a good go. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] and book a spot, Or if you just want some more information dont hesitate to ask. Working on a couple of event sponsors at the moment, and may be able to run a best presented award or two, but more on that later.

Put the dates in your diary, and be sure to bring yourself out for a day of fast fun.

Yours in Skids,

Smokin Scotty

As this isnt a race circuit, there isnt actually testing equiptment to prove you are over the 90db limit as per the regs.

The state motorkhana series runs at the same venue a fair bit, and there is generally a few noisy ones turn up. the uni's normally deserted and the comp surface is out the back so to speak.

Id suggest come and give it a shot, but dont get on gate anywhere in the venue other than during each test.

Yeah, went to a texi as a spectator, and had planned to do something quite similar

however the venue is getting nervous about top speeds, and have put a 70km/hr limit on the venue. During comp. Securing the dates was conditional, and the only way I could secure bookings was by agreeing to run CAMS tests.

Nirimba are very anti-drift, as they associate drift with high speed etc, but having done several motorkhanas in drift mode, its a neat way to fly under the radar, and fine tune car control skills.

My next little project will be American style Autocross events which will cater for higher speeds, but it will be run at another venue Im negotiating with. The Idea behind this series is just to have some cheap fun and bring the various groups in the import scene closer together ie toyota's hondas evos drifters time attackers etc

  • 1 month later...

I'm keen too... As I actually participated in the last Texi instead of just helping out all day, I'm keen to do more events like this because I had a ball!

My car isn't really suitable for 'Khana-style events, but I enjoyed being able to drive it hard in a controlled environment. :)

entry forms now available for the first installment.

please email me to reserve your spot.

Im a Skyline owner/lover and look forward to helping some fellow owners have as much fun as I have had in mine over the years.

Not long now, Seeyas there!
