hey guys, only had my gtst for two weeks but over the past 2-3 days i've had this problem appear 3 times, where ill start the car, all is well, back it out of the driveway, drive up the street and when i slow down/stop the car will stall, when i try start it again it will start and then turn itself off after a second or two, car isn't struggling to start or anything just feels like it runs out of juice, if i turn the car off for a 10-15 seconds it starts up and runs like a dream, any ideas? im thinking the fuel pump might be on its way out as i've heard these R33' fuel pumps are pretty shocking..

it could be the fuel pump, but it could also be the spark plugs or coil packs. do you have an aftermarket blow off valve on the car? if you do then that will more than likely be the cause, combined with weak spark plugs. it could also be the IAC/AAC. do a search on how to clean them.

nah stock BOV hmm yea might have to check the sparks out, need to take it in for a service, just haven't had a spare moment this week, does anyone know any decent mechanics in the sydney inner west area? think its time for a change

hmmm time to start trial and error down the list aye, took the car for a service, had all the fluids, sparks and filters changed including the fuel filter, car felt noticeably happier (probably placebo effect), driving normally had no dramas then i suddenly put my foot down on a straight (was probably on 3rd doing about 1700rpm when i pushed it, almost immediately car stuttered abit and stalled, tryed starting it straight after, it struggled (turned over but revs would only get to about 500 and drop back down) got it started on the 3rd go by giving it some pedal while i started it, seriously stumped to what it could be, gave it afew stretches on the way home and it felt fine, although it has had its occasions when i try give it alittle (only till 4-5k rpm) where it feels like it just looses its power suddenly, then i take my foot off, ease on it again and it feels like its alive again... this has only happened 2-3 times) ill do a search for a AFM cleaning tutorial now

also mechanic said car needed abit of work:

4 new rotors (knew this one)

3 new tyres (knew this one)

high pressure radiator hose leak

power steering leak

Rocker cover gasket leak

radiator needs new front bushes

radiator needs a good flush

besides that he said the car was pretty straight and most of the work was due to age, not to it being flogged everywhere it went, any opinions on any of the work it needs and how much i could be expecting for some of it (he told me he didn't want to give me a quote because he doesn't know the RB parts price list very well and didn't want to lead me in the wrong direction once i take the car in to do the RWC to get the work done.. lol he also told me to hurry the f**k up and strap a powerFc to it so it could get some tuning done but thats a adventure for another day :D

think it could possibly be the BOV, the loss of power issue seems appraent sometimes when im just feathering the throttle enough so its justtt making boost but the BOV seems to be open? is that normal? i mean i was going down the freeway at ~90 feathering the throttle and i kept finding the point where it felt like the turbo was starting to spool yet the valve seemed to be making some constant noise, really bugging me now :)

hey guys gave the AFM sensor a good clean with some carby cleaner last night, let it dry, took it out for a test and worked wonders, this morning everything was great to.. then the issue started again (power loss, but not happening for 5+ seconds, where i can move the accelerator and not get any response from the car) so gave it another clean today and it stalled whilst revesing out of the garage, then ran it for about 6km without a hicup (went to get some fuel) on the way back it went right to shit creek, lost power for a good 5+ seconds again, then when at the lights it idled fine, as soon as i tried to take off it was jumping back and forward - as if it was running out of fuel.. then went good for afew seconds, then back to the jumping, it then allowed me to reverse park without any dramas, im seriously confused now and got a feeling the AFM itself is on the frits, anyone got any ideas? starting to get desperate :)
