Stagea "s" Button

i know its probably already been asked.. i did a search and couldnt find it.. but theres a button and light on teh dash with a picture of 4 wheels and the letter S in the middle.. what does this actually do when the light is on and when its off

I would take a guess and say maybe Synchro or Snow modes?

My switch is located near the tiptronic shifter and has both modes (M35 2001).

Maybe you only have Synchro, that would be my guess.
