Boost Guage Spike Warning

I was cruising in my 33 GTR in 5th gear at about 2500RPM and my G Reddy boost guage gave me a spike warning and flashing red warning light. I didnt think much of it, but it happened again bout a half hour later. Anybody tell me if this is something to worry about, or if it's more likely just a fault. It's never happened before and the car wasn't even in positive boost at the time it came up.
