i guess you missed the point mate - here we all are saying how mad we'd go (indeed how we'd snub the law we pretend to respect) if in fact any ones relatives were at a place where unsavouries might be.

i would have thought you'd be the last person to publicly condone vigilianteism. The purpose of the brass eye special is to demonstrate the hubris and stupidity of the mob mentality. Watch it again.

-D

you on drugs or what??!!

that's just so f***ed up for a subject like this Ben

some peeps should think b4 they post

im pretty sure i know what scumbags are capable of - you dont need to procreate to understand it

however if anyone f**ked with my family, i'd be righteously pissed, as you would very well be

and as much as im all for violence and revenge and bloodshed, the law sees fit to think otherwise

so unless ya wanna be wary in the showers, and not dropping the soap, you gotta abide by the law

so lets not be like anthony mundine and say what we would do or what we're gunna do... if you even plan to do that, it doesnt make sense to incriminate yourself on a public forum in either case...

so pete, i dont mean to offend you, but since you pissed it off 20 seconds in, you didn't get to see the objective point the mockumentary was trying to make. perhaps watch the body of the media before condemning the poster

-D

Ben I got 20 seconds into it then pissed it off

Untill you've had your own precious child interfered with, you'll never know what a man is capable of.

Edit - Steve - theyre not making fun of the issue, theyre making fun of the hysteria surrounding the media. It was a controversial issue in 2001 (read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brass_Eye#Pae...ial_.282001.29). Watch the entire episode and you'll see how easily fooled some folks are, and how the stupidity of the mob overrides any semblance of reason. (ie the computer keyboard that releases pheromones)

and as much as im all for violence and revenge and bloodshed, the law sees fit to think otherwise

the law disarmed us of our proactive protection methods and then armed the police with reactive measures, that are somehow meant to do the same thing. now, we will NEVER have the chance to vote for those measures to be re-instated. if the choice came down to, "Abide by the law and regret for the rest of my life, the harm that came to a loved one." or "Make sure that my family is safe, even if my own freedom is lost." i don't think any free-thinking individual would have to think twice about which to choose.

i am no conspiracy theorist, but every day i am watching perfectly reasonable freedoms being removed from us, for no good reason, mostly without our input. i am also noticing that the law only seems to keep in line those who abide by it.

the amount of fear that is bred into perfectly normal, law abiding citizens, purely to keep them in line, is absolutely astounding. sometimes i worry that it will never get any better. life shouldn't be about fear.

should of knocked em out 1 punch then i could piss my self laughing even better if i was there to see em squirm on the ground a bit :nyaanyaa: lol

so are these f**kers a pedophile or what!!!!!! or they the same age?

A bit off topic but more to do with Ben and Pete's discussion.

The police and the law in most cases aren;t worth a pinch of ****.

Tonight an my Misuses pub there was a group of four blokes walk into the hotel and they were quite were revved up; they were there for a grand total of 2 minutes before singling out security and beating him over the head with an metal sign pole. luckily one of the guards mates was in the hotel and could back him up otherwise they would have done to him what they had done to two guards at another hotel 10 minutes earlier.

10 minutes earlier the same guys had knocked one guard unconscious and broke the other guards arm at a hotel just down the road from my misuses hotel. The manager at her hotel was on the phone to the police before they were in the hotel (He'd been tipped off that there was trouble heading his way as the first hotel is in the same group) and it still took the police 15 minutes to arrive.

When they got there they asked if they were still on premises? to which they got the "you've got to be kidding response" and the manager gave the the rego of the car they left in. The police said that they'd make a report but there was nothing much they could do????

This is their response despite having digital footage from both hotels of both incidents. and your telling us to leave it up to them. If they don't want vigilantes they should DO THEIR JOB.

The police didn't find my niece. We did. We dragged kids out of classrooms and interrogated them. They were all "oh I don't know" but we made it clear to them we were serious. Even going over their heads and speaking to their parents about who their kids associated with, getting more names to go after. Suddenly they had some info for us. We were relentless in our search, and at the same time fearing the worst and trying to hold it together. If we'd left things up to the police, she'd probably still be missing.

The guy is some 17yo punk as far as I've been told, and he is already well known to the police ... so therefore he does not fear them. Let him fear me! He's been warned by my sister ... "go near my daughter again and you'll be meeting my brothers". All I need is that phone call from my sister now. I won't bat an eyelid.

Glad it all worked out well. Too many scumbags around

what do you mean by 'We dragged kids out of classrooms and interrogated them' though ? I don't know If I would be happy having my innocent child interrogated by a stranger?

Enough of the macho stuff 'I would do this and that' Just be thankful it worked out well :)

thats why we have magistrates. if we inadvertently break the law while preventing a crime, it gets heard by a magistrate or judge and they weigh up the word of the law versus the spirit of the law. not long ago the state govt permitted 'any reasonable force' to be used defending ones own self and home, which means home invaders don't have any legal rights if a crime is committed against them while they themselves are in the process of committing a crime. defending yourself, home, friends and family is one thing, vigilanteism is another.

Craig, I'm guessing Roo meant that as a figure of speech as I'd also be pissed off if a stranger dragged my kids outta class for an interrogation session........I'm guessing it was handled a little more diplomatically in the presence of either teachers or the principal......Roo may want to clear that misconception up.

EDIT: Ben, I've been in and out of court rooms approx 10 times a year for the last 14 years and I assure you, Magistrates are a toothless tiger that have nothing but a growl and after awhile these ferals get wind of that.

Unfortunately Judges live in a different world were the rubber never touches the road and are therefore not in touch with reality........having said that, I in no way condone vigilanteism either, but as I said earlier, everyone has a breaking point and it usually relates to any harm that may come to a family member......common sense and reasoning goes out of the window in cases like that.

not at the expense of other peoples loved ones it doesnt

an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, and I too would be pissed off if I had a kid who was interrogated without me being present.

-D

nah f*k that, anything goes when searching for a missing loved one

c'mon - if the clock's ticking, as a parent youd do what you have to, if that means going thru a school to get hard evidence from a couple of kids then so be it.

questions never hurt anybody

not unless you name is Peter Liddy

and the children being 'dragged' out of the class room were hardly innocent as they knew the where about's of said missing child

pretty sure we're just beating a dead horse now

final to say glad it all worked out well and those people without children need to bite your tongues because the ante is tripled when it involves your spawn

Pardon me for being cynical. But there's one thing that puzzled me about the story. Firstly you say she was coached into going by friends, sure, not that unbelievable. But if she was coached into going there and truly unhappy there why wouldn't she tell you everything that happened? (Or your sister?) People who don't talk have something to hide. I know we all like to think that the people we know wouldn't do certain things, but young people are curious about drugs and sex, is it really that hard to imagine that she didn't want to go?

I'm glad that she's at the very least safe... and look, I don't know you, or your niece, but that's just my observation.

I'm sure that Roo's niece may have been a willing participant initially, but that's why we have laws protecting the young (carnal knowledge etc).......they may be willing participants but that doesn't absolve the older enticers of a crime.......hence why they can't drink or vote till the age of 18, the law has deemed that until that age they are not altogether in touch with reality and life's hard lessons
