i have heard of one being approved by cessnock council but as far as i know there have been no plans be made. and i think it is only going to be a small drift tack and burnout pad but i cant say if that is true i have only heard of it through a mate

first Ive heard of it, hope its true! hehe

who would be behind it? is there a car club or a few in the area?

All Ive heard up that way is the MG car club trying to extend their Raymond Terrace hillclimb facility to a circuit.

*fingers crossed*

The people trying too approve this have so for about 5 years but are being set back by the locals for noise disruption. They always come around too work and get petitions signed too get it set up. They want a Curcuit, drag stip and skid pan.

cessnock council are looking in to doing some thing in the area and newcastle sporting car club has been the car club in the newcastle herald about this

but there is no news to what and where yet so thay are only looking in to doing some thing but on the plus side the council brout it up in there last meeting so there is some serport there not like port stevens and the wyong cc have kill any plans to do something in there area

hey? weren't wyong the council putting out EOI and surveys for a motorsport facility?

in my experience cesnock council are not interested in any project that would undermine their title as unemployment captial of australia. we had to take them to the land and environment court to setup a corporate facility there a while back.

They're more interested in keeping it in the family than letting new blood into the place. :D

Last i heard the track they were planning north of Raymond Terrace is still on the cards but being held back by land owners etc, but this isn't just a drift track was supposed to be a full blown complex.this could be the same mob trying a different location, who knows.

Would be my luck i move to Coffs in afew weeks and the bastards build it after i leave :D

Cam

wyong council one is dead not becose thay didnt what to do it but there is no where that dus not have water cachment area near buy

and cesnock council are looking in to doing some thing there is all ready a area set a side for a speed way track but this never when any ferth than

and all going well after there next meeting i may know more

and the ring wood trackis not far of dead to as the company that was going to do it now dus not exist any more after gfc the mg car club are still trying to do something but have not herd anything for a long time

Only thing I've heard of in cessnock was the Revfest car show that was supposed to be in October last year. Held at Cessnock airport was supposed to be a show and shine, 1/8 mile drags and burnout comp. It got canceled a week or so before the show due to nearby vineyards worried about the noise and traffic etc and the effects on their business'. Unfortunately i cant see anything like that ending up happening around here.

bah... nothing will ever happen. people will complain about hoons on the street, then they will complain them when someone is trying to get them off the street.

there is 3 golf courses at pokolbin so land is hardly an issue..... and an airport.. airport doesnt seem to bother any of the winerys with their noise or exhaust fumes. etc.

not only that... the winerys dont seem to worry about the condition of the roads there.. they are some of the most banged up in the country i reckon. lots of richie rich's out there driving in their BMW's and mercs, and the odd ferrari every now and then... driving along shitty windy pothole ridden roads.. i bet those guys would love the oppurtunity to dump the missus off with at a winery and go and cut some laps while she gets cut with her gal pals.

there is soo much land up here thats away from people its not funny.

This track has absolutely nothing to do with cessnock. It is a guy or consortium (cant remember who it is) trying to turn a disused mine near singleton into a track. Which on the surface seems ideal. The old mine needs to be rehablitated anyway which would take years to happen and there is a buffer of land surrounding the mine already. 2 boxes ticked. But try convincing local councils its a good plan. ;)

unfortunately old mining land (areas prone to subsidence) have in the past been used for domestic housing, it doesn't seem to stop councils selling the land off to developers strangely enough.

There was an article in the local paper about Wyong council not having enough space to allow building of a track, not surprising to hear them using the excuse of catchment areas excuse since dam/water level issues have priority no1 since they brainwashed the public into thinking its not actually councils fault that there isnt enough water catchment in the area, (only because they sold off catchment areas to build housing on years ago). Council has told all their staff to not waste anymore time on investigation into the subject, about 3 months later there was a small piece in the same paper saying they were looking into it again, dont hold your breath though.

But they seem to be able find land to build large commercial developments, probably because there is more money and benefits in it for them and their builder and developer mates.

Someone else tried building a motorbike recreation park up at somersby and the locals stopped that one, then there is now talk of another motorbike recreation park Mount White way and I think that will be stopped by the locals because of dust issues or something similar.

Maybe we should find out how Eastern Creek came about, what tactics/methods were used to get it by council and local approval?
