Hi guys.

i have an Axis Autec. its an 02 with cloth interior, no nav/screen.

reading a few of the older posts it refers to some of the differences etc between the RS-4 and the RX-4 and the ARX

going on Carsales there are some Axis cars badged incorrectly for example

this car advertised is clearly an Autec Axis but the wheels are missing.

Autech Axis - missing wheels

this car advertised is what you would consider an Autech Axis but is badged an ARX

ARX Autech Axis?

so i guess what im asking is did the NM35 Axis Autec come from a variety of different models or did they all start as a particular model ie, RS-4.

or could you take your Stagea no matter the model to Autech and have it modified to be an Axis.

its hard to distinguish as they all have different options etc. some with Sat Nav, some without, Some with elec Seats and some without, some with Leather some without. if you read the autech page listed in the M35 info sticky link it shows many different options.

Hi Garett

It is a little hard to give you a straight answer to this question as you can see by the cars listed it is a little confusing.

Most Autech Axis are from the RS/RX body and they are speced up but as you said, there are many different options that could be selected. The first car you listed is definitively an Axis with ARX wheels. As cars need to be complied as a factory car it is quite possible this car had non factory wheels when it was imported and they fitted wheels they had for compliance.

The second car you listed started life as and ARX (can be determined by the interior trim) and seems to have been optioned up with and Axis body kit.

I would say you could take any car to Autech and have it fitted with special options.

Cheers

Andy

I've never seen an Axis without leather before. What colour is the cloth interior?

it's black. With a suede like charcoal in the centres, black carpet. The car is pearl white which correct me if

I'm wrong only came on autech models

Im correcting you, Mine is the same. :(

If you want to know the factory specs I can run the Vin for you, will show if anything has been modified since.

can you get me a pic of the front wheel barring assembly? Just use your Vin otherwise I have to get off my lazy arse and go downstairs to the car park!!!

Andy tried but his is F$#king useless :(

Useless you say......... Who does not know their own VIN and still can not look up FAST??? :(:D

I think you will find my image was very accurate but perhaps you description of what you wanted was errrmm.."F$#king useless"... :(:(

MATE! Whats your problem!!!....do you have a problem...me think's so.......I had a simple request your simple mind could not decipher! :(

I don't use PC(because I hate Microsoft OS's)....therefore I cannot use FAST.

And no I don't no my VIN# off the top of my head.....maybe I should....hey look if it really makes you happy I'll get it tattooed onto my arm.

P.S. sorry....i'll stop the highjack now!

Not really optioned. Axis and ARX panels are interchangeable in models up 2001-2004 (the flares match up). So all the previous owner would have to have done was buy an Axis front bar and get it and the flares pained the same colour as the body :(

Also, I believe that if you wanted Autech bits, you had to buy the Axis... Nismo can option up most models from the Nissan dealership (seems they didn't like touching the ARX though :( ), but Autech only did the complete car from what I can gather.

I don't think they wanted to mess with perfection of the ARX

well mine has nismo floor mats - i know they would probably be able to be bought at every corner shop in japan. and nismo suspension. it looks as old as the car so id suggest very early fittment or factory fitted.

here are some pics.

    • Yep, replacing all those hoses is kind of just bog standard if you're ever back there. Only hose on the back of the engine I have yet to replace is a vacuum hose for the wastegate. I'll probably do it eventually but it's in such an annoying spot.
    • I was actually just planning on replacing the fourth gear parts in the gear box that I broke … like the synchro hub or cone. And any other parts I need once I open up the transmission. That a bad idea? The rest of the gears feel tight. these parts shouldn’t be too much … just the labour here won’t be cheap. Just replacing these in HK would be around 2k aud including labour.    how much is a new r33 or r32 transmission?    thanks for the good info as usual
    • I chose a bad time to buy, at the time there was no gtst's for sale in NSW and my options were qld, vic, or sa and not the greatest examples or too far out of my budget. Ended up picking this one from adelaide sight unseen and got a bit stitched up as you could expect but i dont fully regret it, its just a shame people cant be more transparent in this day and age.
    • IMO just buy a whole R33 transmission and swap the whole thing. Use a palm nailer/air hammer with a roll pin punch to drive the shifter rod end roll pins out. The rod end is discontinued so don't break it. Use gasket dressing on the OEM paper gasket instead of RTV. I personally would not pry on the shifter cover tabs, I broke one trying that instead of just smacking the side with a dead blow rubber mallet to shock it loose from the RTV the last mechanic applied. If you can't get the flanges totally clean and free of any residual RTV and/or you might have a gap that is bigger than it should due to flange damage use RTV on that surface instead of the OEM specced anaerobic sealer. Anaerobic sealer is most likely the right sealant for the job, it's just too easy to mess it up with too large a gap or bad surface prep/roughness seemingly. If you do rebuild what you have it's for a whole gearset that can take high torque. Don't bother with OEM at that point.
    • Little hose. Big hose. They're all waiting to kill the engine.
