Hey guys,

I'm about to replace my federal 595 with the rs-r version and I wanted to change from the 235/45 to a 225/45 tyre. Reason being is that the 235 buldges out of my 8 inch rim and scrubs slightly on my inner guards.

I'm just wondering is it fine to go to the 225/45 will it not affect my handling as much or should I just go another 235 and deal with the buldge.

More info: the rear is a 17x9 with 255's on them. Right now my car understeers.

225 is pretty much optimum on an 8" rim used on the front IMO. Its what I chose for my track car.

235 is OK too, but probably slightly less steering response from that.

You might find the RSR is wider than the SS in each size anyway, its often the case with more track oriented tyres. So the 225 is the safer option if your current 235s rub

understeer should be able to be tuned out in suspension setup, unless its really bad.

just check out the PDF on the federal website for approved fitment, you will find there is a wide range for 8" rim. http://www.federaltyres.com.au/ss595rsr

on the race car we run 8" rims and have used 225 up to 245 depending on the tyre.

if it is rubbing you could always consider different offset wheels or just spacers to move it out a little.
