Since last night I have seen quite a large number of undercover Traffic Cops, marked units etc.

Radar guns are out in force from what I have seen.

Not sure if they are after defects also.

For example, I saw two cars (one unmarked, one marked) within two streets of each other in Lakeside Pakenham.

Drive safely out there

Arrived on my usual spot on princes hwy on fri to find it was nice n busy. 5 mins later after some bikes did burnouts I saw bout 5 people get pulled over and the cops blocked both driveways of the servo I was at. All plates recorded. Lucky for me I chose not to drive that nite. Stopped by again on sat n absolutly noone around lol I think they got the point

We have more staff on as holidays over so we are running traffic cars most days. I would say that most stations in same position so more out and about. We are running plate recognition days in next few weeks also which will be interesting.

I am almost becoming a professional drink driver processer as almost eveyone I pull over lately is pissed. Have had 4 repeat offenders all more than 3 times limit in last month. One also disqualified and driving unregistered car and almost ran us off road 3 times in police car. In his mind he did nothing wrong and told me off as I verbalised my disgust for him in no uncertain terms.

Thats pretty f**king bad. One of my dads mates was like that, even went to jail for 3 months after being done for multiple (more than 15) drink driving offences. He still drink drives to this day and actually encourages others to do the same. Retards... so many of them.

1. Why not be proactive and roster more staff into the CBD at night (IE thursday, friday, saturday, sunday nights) That is four shifts that can be spent for the betterment of society. Or is it a case of jurisdiction, paperwork and easier prey?

I am in no way condoning drink driving and speeding around school zones, but from the presence I have seen 2 streets from my house the word I have is "overkill" and that is an understatement.

2. Sounds like the car is not coming out of my garage unless its on the trailer.

Plate recognition is the computer software and camera that automatically checks every registration that passes and then runs checks on the owner. So it shows up all unregistered, unlicensed, suspended/disqualified, warrants and whereabouts. I have heard that sometimes having 10 members just to hand out fines and deal with other things that arise isn't enough.

In relation to having more members in city fri/sat nights we still run safe streets which adds 50-100 extra police in city and we have started new area ORU that will have a couple of hundred members tasked for these high crime area's. Then again that's not extra members in force, its stations losing members to go there.

The sherrifs use plate recognition the the states n they seem to work quite well. Once a plate comes up with a default the computer screams out pull over so the officer then gets out n issues the fine/notice/etc. Considering I've met people with thousands of dollars owing in fines I think it's only fair they get caught.

As for what Graeme said bout cops in the CBC, the past few weekends I've walked around n there has literally been a cop on every corner. Never felt more safe in the city

not having a crack @ the resident po po here.. but it certainly pays better handing out traffic infringements/defects left right and centre and so much easier

I'm in agreement with you on putting more on duty in the city at night, but the amount of dangerous driving I see around my area more cops would be a blessing. The more visible they are hopefully the less people will drive like wankers.

So if my car get's snapped and they see my past mistakes (IE. I have done my time) I will be pulled over 110%, correct me if I am wrong here?

That new trailer is sounding better every day

They were trialing these cameras in my area late last year. From what I understand they target people with outstanding warrants, no registration, owner of a car has a cancelled license etc. They're not aimed at catching people with previous convictions/problems, just current ones. I could be wrong on that though.

    • Hey everyone, I recently bought myself a 2001 Nissan Stegea M35, and I've had a few issues that I had to fix, my car would start intermittently and I had a bad rocker cover leak, after a couple days of looking I finally found a part number that interchanges with the OEM starter as the OEM starters at $1300 and I can't afford that, this starter was only $270 and I replaced the start and still had the same issues, I posted a video asking for help online and it went very well, some guy said it was probably a bad ignition switch so I took my dash apart and turns out my ignition switch was half screwed in and was loose, once it was tightened it fired right up, I found a local place called "Boost factory" and they sold me a part of OEM Nissan rocker covers, they were $600 which was a shocker but I couldn't find them anywhere else, so I installed them and fixed my oil leak as the old rocker cover was cracked and warped, I now need to replace my boost air inlet hoses as they have some cracks.
    • I am being real ocd and do not want to make amy mistakes so appreciate all help provided. I am overly cautious so asking for opinion even if i know the answer   few questions,   1.re tensioner, should spring be greased lightly?    2.tensioner has two washers , one pressure washer and other has recessed/ seat. I am going to put the recessed one facing tensioner where edges are cut out and pressure washer on top   3. my car has custom triger kit sold few years ago by guy who initially built the engine. I moved the crank gear and it moved in and out easy, only way to remove belt is to slide the crankshaft gear forward which I did. I have seen these being very tough to move , anything to do with my woodruff key?   it has a crank sensor shown in purple which I assume reads from the 12 teeth position mounted to the crankcase gear   4. timing belt doesn’t have arrow stating front or back just a arrow which I think is direction of rotation . Do you agree?   5.i figured out why my crankcase cover was worn as there was no washer installed over the crankcase cover before the harmonic balancer was put in place. It is missing, anyone knows the part number? It looks like this https://justjap.com/products/genuine-nissan-crankshaft-timing-gear-rear-plate-washer-nissan-s13-ca18-a31-r32-rb20-r33-r34-c33-c34-c35-rb25?currency=USD   https://tinypic.host/image/IMG-4535.382Zy2 https://tinypic.host/image/IMG-4537.382dSz https://tinypic.host/image/IMG-4534.382q4U
    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
