Ebc Boost Issues

Hello,

I just installed a HDI electronic boost controller for my r32 GTST but am having issues with it.

When on boost (5k rpm) the car will cut out and make loud sounds from the exhaust. (misfire?)

The EBC was installed by an auto electrician so hopefully we can eliminate a wiring issue.

Before I installed the EBC the car was fine, boosting to correct levels.

I've attempted to change the setup back to normal. Leaving the EBC in the car but bypassing the EBC solenoid which initially fixed the problems but since has stopped working properly.

What could the issue be? Spark plugs?

I've searched the forums but can't find a matching issue to mine.

Sounds like boost is holding better and it's coilpacks and/or spark plugs.

you havnt mentioned how much boost you were/are running.

do you have a boost gauge?

are you sure theres no adjustments on the EBC?

and that it makes exactly actuator pressure before it bleeds any air off?

my moneys on its making more boost and your going R&R or too lean @ 5k rpm

also just one of those misfires etc when you first had the EBC on, would've fouled your spark plugs, now they are struggling to fire.

so new plugs as Nismoid said, then see how ya go...

yeh thats what i was thinking, with the fouled plugs. well now it should be running stock boost cos i set it up bypassing the ebc's solenoid, when i had the ebc on the boost kept going up rapidly even tho it was on the lowest setting, it hit 14 at one stage

also the actual boost control unit gets really hot. at the moment its located on the floor next to clutch out of the sun aswell

I also have a HDI EBC-R, i havn't had an issue with it yet. As the guys have said, more boost requires more spark etc i would change plugs and if you can't afford new coils, get some industrial grade silicone and glue them up not a total fix but will fix most probs (unless coil completely gone). Also get out on a QUIET road or more safer a dyno and get it tuned and set right, if it's boosting to 14psi when it's not ment to check all hoses at the soleniod. This was happening to me but mine hit about 16psi (Shyte), i found that one of the hoses has a slight split. If you set boost to high you may break something. (BOOM) show me the money.

thanks mate, yeh mine hit 16 psi yesterday after i thought id fixed it although it didnt feel like it was pushing 16 psi. i got some spark plugs will put them in on sunday. only want to run 10 or 11 psi at the moment too

spark plugs fixed the misfire, but the boost controller just doesnt control the boost, it pushes past 16 psi!

runs fine if i use the same hoses but instead of going into the solenoid i just put them back into each other like an extended version of how they are normally set up, runs 11 - 12 psi though

interesting man as ive got one of these

and its controlled boost up to 18pound, never has an issue

daily its on around 13/14 and like i said, no dramas

i must have it wired up wrong or something, ive tried everything, and the auto sparky who installed it was sure he set it up right, are you running it through port 2 and 3 with the first one empty?

its alright i found ze problemo, there was a small leak in one of the hoses, just didnt look hard enough the first time lol.
