So just got a letter saying my license has been suspended....but....it has taken them 11 and a half months to send the letter out to me....

My Question is....can i dispute the fact since it has taken that long? and if its been on there records for so long, how come when i've been pulled over for license checks or gone thru drug/booze buses they have never questioned me or said anything. and when i rang up after i payed the fine last april (3 Points) it stilll said i had 4 points left?

Sat hear quite confused atm ey... o.0

the reason nothing was ever said to you when you were pulled up etc, is because your licence was not suspended. The client MUST start the suspension. Transport will not start the suspension, the client has to by signing paperwork or going to a licensing centre....

syfon is correct.

You have been issue with a NOTICE you have not been issue with a Suspension Of License.

To received your Suspension Of License you must go into the licensing centre, if you do nothing the police or a member will come and issue you with your Suspension Of License.

Kandikid untill you are issue with Suspension Of License, you still have a license. Once you are issue with Suspension Of License you will have 28days before it starts

what happens of you dont go in and sign it?

If you are unable to attend a Transport Licensing Centre or Regional Licensing Agent and want to make alternative arrangements for the service of an Excessive Demerit Points Notice, or require further information about the demerit point system please telephone Licensing and Compliance Services on (08) 9218 3699

Failure to take any action will result in the Notice being personally servced on you by a Transport Compliance Officer or Police Officer.

Also

The disqualification will NOTE commence until 28 days after a notice has been personally served on you

thats for a demerit suspension. if you get a court summons for something else and send in a guilty plea without attending they automatically start the suspension on the day of the hearing, without notifying you in any way.

before you sign anything, make sure the suspension is actuall deserved, there was some major computer stuff ups last year with heaps of false/duplicate suspensions and demerits being issued

^^

Jonnos correct, if you go to court for reckless driving, dangerous driving or hooning the courts will suspend you without notifying you officially (they send out a summons)

pretty sure demerits suspension will automatically start after approx a month (after the notice)

For Demerits suspension it starts 28days after you have been personally servced. Until you sign that form it won't start (28days from the day you sign)

if it is a demerit point suspension you can also elect to do the 'double or nothing' good behaviour period. Read the paperwork.

or serve your 3+ months suspension now.

you are not deemed to be under demerit suspension until you are served/personally handed with the suspension.
