Well at least she aqcuired some real taste. I think any g/f of a skyline owner ends up liking the taste of a proper car :D

Some chicks will NEVER be into cars, they usually either ARE or ARENT. Good luck changing / converting a non-car enthusiast :) I am lucky mine IS into cars AND fast driving...which is kinda different to what yr saying...

I was thinking by mid this year my boss is due to update my company car and was thinking either RX8 or EVO8 (if it gets here by then) sound like good updates.

According to CarPoint the EVO8 will be available in Feb for $65k, much better price than the EVO6 for $80k:

February 2004

Peugeot 307 CC - hardtop coupe/convertible version of 307, 133kW, circa $55,000

Mazda MX-5 - light facelift and turbo model arrives at $46k.

Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIII - just 100 stonking awd turbo Lancers for $65,000 each so be quick.

VW Golf R32 - 177kW AWD Golf, 0-100km/h in 6.6sec and $63,000 price tag. 200 only.

I am annoyed about VW calling their new Golf an R32, what a Ripoff!

Here is a calender of what's in store for Aus:

if i ever buy a merc or bmw is will be something like a M3, not mid range euro trash

on 70k a year you better triple your wage or start selling some drugs to pay for one :devfu:

Will you be kitting the rx8 up? Leaving it totally stock?

Think about the points i mentioned re joint ownership and think of things like what if you broke up or she ****ed your best mate in the back of the pink excel... Its a fair commitment to buy any asset with someone else involved... Remember that...

Can't say I'll ever buy another new car, but on your way to your first mill you make a few mistakes. Too much loss of equity when you drive them off the lot and then the heartbreak of that first scratch or ding, but this M3 convertible for $70 K is nice for a 99 model, just an option http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/marketplace...o=1&chkRows=500

M3's are a nice car, swapped one for a day with a mate and he didn't want to give my keys back, but my handling is improved over the stocker for dry track work. Sux in the wet tho.

A friend with an engineering consultancy bought an RX8. Thought they had the rotary probs sorted and he is a rotary buff. Just got rid of a series 2 with 13Bt. His wife went out to start the car and it wouldn't catch. Called Mazda and they wanted to send the flatbed but she peaked and got a coupla techs sent out. After a couple of hours and flat battery the older guy thought, "well it is a rotary" so in with new plugs and Bingo. Fouled plugs. Unfortunately it got written off in the floods in his driveway and he is looking for a bit more go again, like a series 7.

:P;) :rofl:so full of optimisim there on the trust of a woman smooth! hehe..

m3 ..yummy..even better m5.

I saw a very nice silver beemer the other day - would have just been a 3 or 5 series or something but was surprised to hear a "PSSHT" when it went past. Guess there are 3rd party turbo options available out there.

2nd hand CLK would be great too..

There is a turbo'd 5 series silver beamer round my area, he had a T03 or T04 he put in himself cant remember which. the car is like a late 80's early 90's model - a REAL sleeper, it was dirty as all hell but at 9PSi it wasnt quiet enough :D

I always see a brand spankin new silver M3 near my work, very nice indeed.

Got the SP20 valued, and since the Mazda 3 is coming out in a few weeks the sp20 is going to be negavitely geared about 9 grand which means that there is roughly 9 grand extra to pay off on the finiance to the value of the trade in which suxs balls coz the car is only 8 months old. It would be stupid to trade the car in now and loose 9 grand. Looks like the RX8 or other car will have to wait atleast 6 months coz the sp20 wont loose it trade in value.

And you want to do the same again and lose even more on another new car? Buying a new car really is one of the silliest things you can do, unless you have massive assets (e.g. most of your house paid off) already. The more you pay for it, the more you lose. Whats the latest and greatest in 1 year is mere "just another previous model xxxx"

looks like she will keep the sp20. We looked at some new 17 rims for it today. That should keep her happy for awhile

Not much wrong with them, pretty nice car and I've even thought of dumping the Lynx for the 2 L Mazda/Ford, but it has too many mods and is just such a nice little machine. Also tossed around the idea of a Focus, just to feed the hot hatch fetish but they only sell the gutless ones out here.

Yeah, pretty up the SP20 will be nice.

never trust anything without a buldge in its pants!@!@!@!@!@!@!@!@!@!@!@!@!

What about a suspicious looking hooker in grey st [st kilda] that has a buldge in HER pants? eh? Would you trust him / her? :D

you seem to know an awful lot about this hooker for an 'innocent' person :D

I do believe the socially acceptable term for a non-gender specific person is "IT"

    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
    • My Fuga Hybrid is JDM, 2014 model but very similar to the V37 from the looks of things..same platform just physically larger and very comfortab;e
    • Was that Australia Delivered Duncan? Does it have siren etc?   I used to have remote start on an old 32 two decades ago, it was a cool feature. I used to wake up early in winter for work. Start it and by the time i was out the door a few minutes later the engine was warmed up and the heaters had the car toasty. It was great.    I don’t mine the ambience lighting.  I drive a western star and it has footwell lights and ambient lighting and it’s great! From the pics of seen of them installed in a skyline I think it’s a nice touch
    • re the security system, my Fuga/Q70 has the factory option where the puddle lights in the mirrors turn on when the prox key is detected, it was clearly dealer fitted and has a switch in the lower dash to disable it....it didn't have remote start but TBH I don't really miss that, I had it in the Stagea originally but never used it....we don't often have to warm the car up in the snow before we get in for Australia. And the Fuga also has the illuminated footwells, sounds like a useless feature but I actually quite like the indirect light within the car, it was a nice addition
    • Ok now I’m extremely jealous
