4 Dead Including Young Child - Police Pursuit

Pursuit?

In it came last night from Queanbeyan like a sudden gust of wind > jerk in God-knows-what, pursued by police > smashed into a family of innocents (yes, and with a young kid on board) at an intersection.

That's all I've heard on the news so far...

I actually have some contact with the happenings of last night.

There was alot of traffic about from the skyfire thingo, adn the NSW crew pulled out well before the narrabundah intersection.

There will likely be a big press release sometime today.

what a waste of that family's life, its not the cops fault its the f**kwits in the stolen car being chased. Even when police pull off high speed pursuits they still continue driving dangerously at break neck speeds.

Its the same for all the idiots who think the streets are a race track, If it was only them that died I couldnt care less but they keep killing innocent people.

I'm sure the cops didn't call the case off just before the crash.

I used to believe the police when they publicly stated that they called off chases beyond a certain speed.

But two incidents caused me to change that view.

1) One copper from Penrith, & now stationed at Tarcutta went through a red arrow and hit our eldest son head-on. Our son who was going through the green light in Lane #1 of 3 lanes was in turn booked for going through a red. Fortunately, he had witnesses to say the copper was at fault.

2) Under hypnosis, my 71 yr old client wanted to know why he was at fault for hitting a police car coming from his right. At the outset, my client would appear to have been in the wrong because he was making a right hand turn at a T-intersection from a side-street onto the main road called Bexley Rd. After the accident, he couldn't remember anything other than driving away from home 5 minutes before the accident.

Now here's what happened...

In a hypnotic state, he'd been waiting to turn right onto Bexley Rd. A bus had stopped, forcing traffic behind him to stop too. My client saw that it was safe to turn right, and did so.

A cop car overtook the bus (and other traffic) and hit my client's car on the wrong side of the road.

My client at the 2nd session, recalled that other cop cars arrived.

One copper got out of his car, went to the damaged cop car, pulled out the roof light and turned it on.

Fact: There had been no siren or lights before the unmarked car hit my client. A single light was turned on after the accident by his comrade.

OK, so only 15% of cops are corrupt? My question is, how do you tell which is which?

this reminds me of that chase afew years ago when the cops chased a car through civic and the car being chased hit that girl that died and the cops denied any fault

I think this is such a hard topic because everyone has a different opinion.

I still fail to see how much fault can get placed on the police since they are at the end of the day just doing their job. If they didn't chase, imagine how many people would just run, there'd be no incentive to have to stop especially in a stolen car.

Never mind hating on the idiot who was speeding in a stolen car BEFORE the cops initiated the chase, let's just give the cops shit for doing their job - trying to apprehend somebody breaking multiple laws at once.

A family was killed....... but the cops might've been bullshitting so let's attack them.

The dickhead driver killed himeself, 3 other people and ciritically injured his female passenger whilst speeding in a stolen car.... but the cops might be bullshitting so let's attack them.

So what are the cops supposed to do, ask them nicely to pull over and if they don't, just let them go?

Imagine the car thief (and the cops) are doing the 80K speed limit, cops hit the lights and sirens, thief sees the lights about to change and floors it. May have only hit 100K's, but when the family in the little mazda suddenly appears in front of them and they t-bone it, that's still more than enough to leave pretty much everyone dead. Doesn't have to be a long car chase for someone to die, just makes for better press coverage if it is.

We all feel bad for the innocent family, but if the cops stop pursuits completely there will be a lot more of that happening once the bad guys know they just have to put the foot down and the cops will instantly give up.

No one really gives a shit about a stolen car but can you imagine the drunks that would be on the road, believing they could drive with impunity?

i dont think it was the cops fault, the kid saw the police and drove through there himself to get away from them (from what ive heard). The girls name was Clea Rose i think, so sad.

Now I can tell you got a chip on your shoulder....

The pusuit was called off after the stolen car ran the red light at fyshwick near the DFO, red-light cameras can confirm speed and time fairly accurately.

We have highway patrol to chase criminals.

The guy must have been driving outside the rules o be chased in the first place, so I'm tipping who was going to keep driving like that chase or no chase.

What do you think will happen if criminals think all chases will be called off if they just put everyone in danger??

No doubt this accident shouldn't have happended but you can't blame the police for risking their own lives to do their job.

P.S Retrospective veiws are not available during a situation. Funny that.

Personally I'd like to see this rule of calling off chasing after it becomes dangerous removed. It a limiting rule like not fighting over the Cambodian border in vietnam. But it is there and I have no hesitation that cops bend/break this rule then stretch the truth or lie about it.
