I'll have my GT-SS turbos on the car within the month, so stay tuned...

I'll hit OZ up for a dual dyno session and we'll print out a dyno sheet with dyno curves of both cars superimposed on each other so you can see the difference.

That said, they're completely different turbos.

GT-SS are small. Smaller than 2530s and rated at 280ps each. I'm hoping for 300kw @ all four from them.

GT-RS are huge. Bigger than 2540s and rated at 400ps each.

That's a 240hp difference in turbos. BIG DIFFERENCE.

I opted for maximal response for street and track use, so I went for the fastest spooling turbos I could find... Hopefully I'll be happy with them.

ph1 on these forums has T517z with 8cm2 exhaust housings on his R33 GTR...

He made 347kw @ all four if I remember correctly, and when he took me for a drive, it didn't feel overly laggy (which I would have expected compared to ball bearing HKS range), but ask him for his personal experience and what rpm they make 1 bar at...

As mentioned in other threads, my build has been postponed, pending the arrival of forged internals, so it will be another month until I can give you any results of my GT-SS turbos

GT-RS are not huge and are certainly not bigger than 2540's. GT-RS runs exactly the same turbine (or compressor, I cant remember) as a 2540, but is more responsive. I've been in an S14a with a GT-RS and my God does it spool up much quicker than a T28. And no other mods were put in except for the turbo.

Hey looking at it on paper, if you put 2 x GT-RS on an RB26 it's meant to have the same output as a T51R KAI? Does that mean the Kai is as "responsive" as a GT-RS setup, or that the GT-RS has as much lag as a big single?

If anything, I would have thought the GT-RS would have MORE lag than a big single?

i guess it would depend on the big single merli ;)

IE apexi AX82 big single - more lag

HKS T51 R SPL - less lag

Actually, I would think the standard S15 T28 spools and makes full boost quicker than the GT-RS.

GTSS vs GTRS, I think it would be more of what are you chasing?

and will it be on the standard displacement 2.6L?

I reckon merli is on the right track with the 2.6L + GTSS combo, matched with some cams, lightweight flywheel, should be responsive as and be fun to drive on the circuit and street.

IMO the GTRS is more suited to a 2.7+ litre combo.

But if you're after big HP then go big single?

The GT-RS are definnaly bigger than the 2540s, they run the larger GT2835 Compressor wheel (52 trim) compared to the GT2540 (46 trim) but both have the same exhaust size & housings.

GT-RS has 400PS output whereas the GT2540 has 350PS

Hi guys, I posted this a while ago, but for those that haven't read it....

Here is the data on the HKS turbos

.....................Compressor......................Turbine

....................Trim...Inducer....Exducer...Exducer...Inducer....Trim

GT2530..........63____1.860____2.344___1.883____2.098____76

GTRS.............52____1.997____2.773___1.833____2.098____76

GT2835..........52____1.997____2.773___2.020____2.204____84

GT2540..........46____2.016____2.972___1.833____2.098____76

As you can see the GTRS is merely a 2835 compressor (and cover) with a 2530/40 turbine (and cover).

Hope that helps
