rb20 upgrade r33 or vg30 turbo?

well I have had the pleasure of trying both turbo's.

from my short analysis. I have an r33 turbo on my car now .

the vg 30 is better for all out power but the r33 one is better cause is spools faster.

the r33 turbo isn't a savage as the vg 30 turbo in its application of power remember these are raw thoughts.

but thought I would pass them on

I called tilbrooks today and during the conversation I asked him about the VG30 turbo.

He said:

The max they will make with a tuned ECU is 180rwkw and they are as laggy as hell.

The Non-bb turbo's ceramic or not will make full boost at 4500rpm and the bb turbo's at around 4000rpm.

What I find difficult to understand is how Freebaggins made 200rwkw with the R33 turbo which is smaller and flows less than the vg30 turbo with a fully tuned ecu.

How does the R33 Turbo spool compared to the Stock Turbo?

Still the usual 3000rpm full boost when rev's are flicking.

Mine makes full boost in a high gear with the throttle flat at around 2500rpm.

Joel can you still get the 2540, i think it would be good and not that laggy, but i have heard from a few people that the vg30 is laggy.

I got a turbosmart external wastegate today, $470, and its brand new, bargain.

Boost Controller has been purchased and now the Computer Is being upgraded so well then will be the turbo.

joel I think you would like the r33 turbo on an r32 it is really nice makes boost from 2800 so its not that laggy.

the non ball bearing vg30 turbo made full boost @ 4000 rpm I know joel I had one. it spooled from 3000

ask cam as well. he has made over 200 rwkw yeah I know optomistic dyno I still feel 190 is very doable they jsut dont like them cause they are a cheap altanative. I'm happy with my choice joel but Ihave changed my power goals if you want 200 rwkw then you have to look at bit bigger the ballbearing center really helps
