Hi guys,

Doing a massive clean of the clean car at the moment and i want to pull the whole centre section apart. Hard to get into some of the cracks etc, so i figure i'll just dismantle :)

Looking to take the gauge cluster off, and definitely around the gear shift as well.

And kinda on topic, is is hard to pop off the window switch surrounds on the doors? wouldn't mind giving those a proper clean as well.

cheers,

daniel

pull ash tray out . one screw in there . undoo that and the whole gear stick surround unclips . screws for centre hehind it . gat something big and flat and lever top vent out . more screws behind that

Yeah i just reach into the vent gaps and pull (it's just clips holding it in... don't worry) if it doesn't move.. a screwdriver with a reg.. i tried the pulling first cause it doesnt damage.. just don't pull on the fins.. pull the edges..

when the vents have come out.. disconnect the hazard switch power.. that part will now be totally out.. behind the vent you can see the tabs where the gauge holder is screwed in.. simply undo the screws (keep them somewhere safe).. then the holder basically lifts up at the front.. and slide it forward a bit (there are tabs holding it on the back, but no screws)..

Note* if you have original gauges you can simply unplug the harness and the gauge hloder/gauges will be completely out.. aftermaket will prob not be on a harness

ok, i pulled the ash-tray out, and undid the 1 screw. There are 2 metal clips showing, which from what you guys have said are for the gearshift surround. I've tried pushing them down, pulling them up etc, but didn't want to break anything. Which was do they 'unclip' to let the gearshift surround out?

sorry, i'm not very DIY :P

Ok, got up to here. Got the gearshift surround out. Those metal clips i was looking at were just to keep the ash-tray in place... whoops :P

I undid those screws, but it doesn't really allow for anything to come out. I just gently pulling up from the bottom, but it looks like the climate control wants to go with it OR the din surround bit slips under the CC somehow.

What's the next step from here?

Pull everything out as well, getting a very thorough clean :(

You need to take out the centre air vents to get access to the two screws holding the top of the whole climate control cage bit. Because there are 4 screws in total to take out the cage, two at the top two at the bottom.

To get the vents out use a small flat blade screwdriver and lever (very gently so as not to mark) the vents out from the left. There's no clips, it sort of holds itself in by a tight fit basically. And undo the connector for the Hazard lights to pull it away completely. And you'll see the two screws at the top of the cage to take out.

Also once you have the vents out as said there are two screws I think holding in the 3 gauge cluster, take them out and lift out and unplug that part. Easy.
