MYRB30
Hi guys, I have a R32 GTR diff here that I want to replace the damaged friction discs and plates in. Are they available in Australia? Genuine or non-genuine? Thanks. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/313571-nissan-r200-lsd-clutch-plates-r32-gtr/ Share on other sites

djr81
Depending on what LSD you have try this: http://www.nismo.co.jp/en/products/competi...df/repair04.pdf Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/313571-nissan-r200-lsd-clutch-plates-r32-gtr/#findComment-5212258 Share on other sites
eXquiSit
would it be better to re pack the clutch packs or buy an aftermarket 2 way like a kaaz? i got quoted (roughly) $300ish for the clutch packs and $250 for install as they wont let customers install it themselves intended use is for drifting, so im curious if this re packing is able to hold up to the abuse or will it start to open wheel after a while coz if thats the case a kaaz is cheap enough these days to buy brand new Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/313571-nissan-r200-lsd-clutch-plates-r32-gtr/#findComment-5212276 Share on other sites
bradsm87
I know someone who tried a stock R32 GTR diff in a drift car and it open wheeled at the worst times. They don't have a very agressive ramp angle which means it doesn't lock that much under acceleration. I've always wondered how a stock GTR diff would go if U ground the angled bit that the pin pushes against to a more aggresive 'wedge'. I dunno wat either are called lol. eXquiSit
yea...when i was taking the diff out of the car i used a breaker and pry bar and it felt so so loose! thats y im curious to see if repacking it with more clutches would make it a tighter 2 way or perhaps goin aftermarket lsd Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/313571-nissan-r200-lsd-clutch-plates-r32-gtr/#findComment-5213884 Share on other sites
Deano 1
You just shim it mate, to tighten it goto Nissan order some shims, the part numbers are all over the net. And just put em in, it's real easy Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/313571-nissan-r200-lsd-clutch-plates-r32-gtr/#findComment-5213944 Share on other sites
eXquiSit
ive driven on shimmed vicous r200s before...they were terrible and singe spin half way through the day! -Jimmy-
I guess it depends on what the total preload of the shims are. My experience with shimmed diffs is great. eXquiSit
ah how it was done was ripping apart 2 diffs and getting the 2 shims from the spare centre and doubling up the shims on both sides big difference between shim and a proper 2 way but im wondering if repacking clutch plates is more effective Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/313571-nissan-r200-lsd-clutch-plates-r32-gtr/#findComment-5215055 Share on other sites

R31Nismoid
ive driven on shimmed vicous r200s before...they were terrible and singe spin half way through the day! Clearly it wasn't done right Racepace re-shimmed & plated my diff, almost to Nismo spec (slightly different i was told)... was what 6 years ago now. I've done maybe 40 passes @ the drags on it, as well as a lot of serious curry in general use with the 255 RE001s i have. After 10,000-15,000km's it's still exactly as tight same as it was the day i picked it up, turns both wheels without fail every time Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/313571-nissan-r200-lsd-clutch-plates-r32-gtr/#findComment-5333102 Share on other sites
Deano 1
The r200 in the gtr is same as the r200 in a s13 or r33 am I right??? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/313571-nissan-r200-lsd-clutch-plates-r32-gtr/#findComment-5333172 Share on other sites
eXquiSit
R31Nismoid: hey mate... do you think they are as strong/effective/etc as a proper 2 way though? the repacks i drove were following instructions off this site http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Di...Gt-t164288.html this wasnt repacked like nismo plates but the 2 outer shims making it virtually a locker now gtr repacking/reshimming maybe different and thus making it more effective than doing it to the other r200s Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/313571-nissan-r200-lsd-clutch-plates-r32-gtr/#findComment-5333173 Share on other sites

So from my experience with the HR31 R200, yes they are just as good. eXquiSit
R31Nismoid: ah i see... the r32 diffs are mechanical lsds also from my understanding (correct me if im wrong) so repacking the shims may work the experiences i have had with reshims came from viscous lsds so there would be a difference i think but good to know it may be effective to repack the shims!
