Precision Billet Turbos

I recently bought a R32 GT-R (last summer) and was thinking about a Single turbo upgrade if not then probably going for Garrett GT2871R-10s when i upgrade. First im going to max out and see how fast i can run at the 1/4 mile with the stock turbos :P

but i was wondering. Seems like not many in the Skyline world use Precision turbos at least not that ive seen

I know that Precisions new Billet line is pretty new. I had the old style Precision billet in my Supra it was a 71mm turbo with a .81 A/r capable of 800+whp and it was i think about 1400 US Dollars back then.

I dont understand why more people dont go for them since they often make more power and spool quicker then many other on the market, the price is good and they last. They are used a lot in the Supra world and Evo world.

a Precision 6765 with a quick spool valve would be a killer setup on a powerfull street car.

forgot to add you can also get them with divided housings and these are the new WATERLESS DBB setups so no more coolant lines need to be tapped anymore to have Dual Ball Bearings. But prices might go up for these i think.

You're right, they aren't as common a garretts and hks turbos

Just to check, there's nothing between 685hp and 900hp?

Basin on those prices it seems like an attractive option

not yet in the new billet line i think, but i have to check. There are many Supras and Evos that run precision turbos. But the new billet line is pretty new. But all ive seen are great results with them. I can check for some dyno results on supraforums but that will ofcourse be on a 2JZ

there is always the older style Precison non billet, Precision Turbo T67 Turbocharger Capable of 750HP

but i think i would just go with the new since they are same price/or cheaper spool the same but make more power

I don't know about the spool better and make more power thing, they definitely do really good for a particular size but whenever I've seen evidence of say a PT6262 billet turbo - it seems substantially laggier than a GT35R equivalent. In the PT's defence, they seem to make a metric shit tonne of power for "inducer size" but it feels more like comparing a rotary to a piston engine. Sure its technically smaller, and makes more power than the same size equivalent - but it also has the downsides to having a bigger turbo.

At least from what I've seen.

I've also seen people grumbling about reliability with the new Billet turbos, though it may just be that people are trying to push the limits with them - most people don't both trying to run 40+psi through a GT3582R. Nonetheless, AWDMotorsport's EVO9 always impressed the hell out of me by doing that 8.9 in a full interior car running a PT6262, even though the rumour mill indicates the thing was a grenade.

ForcedPerformance HTA-series turbos seem a bit more attractive in terms of spool versus power, the Precision ones seem better for drag racing where there are "inducer limitations" in classes... so you don't need the response but you want as much power for the compressor size - and if I were worried about bang for buck - Borg Warners seem to lead the charge imho.

I've had first hand experience with a few Precision turbo setups now.

A 2.6 33GTR with a 7175 making 860bhp... very smooth and progressive in the lower end. It was alot more responsive than the simiar non-billet wheel PT turbo. Absolute animal on boost... I love it!

Another 2.6 33GTR with a 6265 making 700bhp and a stonking 192mph standing mile run... that was his first/only run too. The car is suprisingly "responsive" for the size turbo.

An RB25 with a 5557 in a S13... a little smoother than a td06, with similar power potential. It was limmited by the injectors at about 280rwkw, but lots of torque.

And of course, I watched first hand(didn't get to ride in) the Performance Power TT GT40 at a standing mile event... amazing!!! it has twin 75mm prototype Precision Turbo, billet turbo's.... It's obviously a larger engine, but when Johnny puts his foot on it from idle, the thing comes alive very very quickly!!!

I've actually bought a 5557 plain bearing, billet wheel T3 for my daily rb25 r32... I really want to do a comparison with a td06 l2 (that why I bought plain bearing core).

havent seen any reliability issues with them. The old style Precision could take almost anything.

And yeah that AWDMotorsports Evo RS made 783 awhp with a T3 6262

And the AWDMotorsports Evo GSR made 921 awph with a T3 6765 and went 8.75 @ 163mph

A Supra made 1015 whp 754tq @ 32 psi on E85 with a T4 7675 , 1.10 a/r they maxed out the injectors and the turbo had easily more left in it

So i would say they are best bang for buck power wise and spool wise, the Borg Warners when compared in the same power catagory seem to be abit lazier

here is a small comparison from a 6265 @ 25 psi Vs. a GT4088 @ 25 psi

4000rpms: 6265@300 wheel torque/250whp - GT4088@300 wheel torque/240whp

4500rpms: 6265@550 wheel torque/500whp - GT4088@430 wheel torque/380whp

5000rpms: 6265@560 wheel torque/540whp - GT4088@530 wheel torque/500whp

5500rpms: 6265@580 wheel torque/600whp - GT4088@520 wheel torque/540whp

6000rpms: 6265@580 wheel torque/620whp - GT4088@500 wheel torque/570whp

6500rpms: 6265@580 wheel torque/640whp - GT 4088@490 wheel torque/590whp

and a quote from one of the guys at Boost Logic

"The 6265 spools MUCH faster than the GT4088R. The GT40 will spool later than a Billet 6765 DBB and make less power. The new PTE Billet Compressor wheel turbos are the way to go! "

Here's an overlap of a PT6765 and a GT4088R:

Not too surprisingly the GT4088R spools better (carrying ~20whp more up to 6000rpm) and the 67mm has a bit more flow - being the bigger compressor. The dyno plot looks a bit like the 67mm is running a bit more boost up high, but there are bound to be all sorts of additional things to the picture, shame there is no boost plot.

Edit: A mate of mine has an R33 GTS25t with a built RB25 which is going to be running with a PT6765 pretty soon, I don't really expect to see it make full boost before 5000rpm... if it does then they really are a good have your cake and eat it too solution. It will be tuned with Biofuel I believe, so shouldn't mess around :(

900whp... dyno plots and specs please. Otherwise, I don't know why you'd bother - my off the shelf GT30R does 700whp and gets full boost at 3200rpm. Honestly.

Im sry but im having a very hard time believing that a off the shelf GT3076R makes anywhere near 700whp when they are rated 525 hp from Garrett

Prices are lot cheaper the Garrett stuff we are using. Can you guys pm a price list for the CHRAs with/out comp housings? We can build OEM housings to suit them for Nissans and Toyotas.

If things turns out better then Garrett we will be happy to purchase some of your CHRAs for customs builds.

yeah im not a PT rep. I was just surprised that people arent taking advantage of the prices and quality of the Precision turbos

I was just taking info and prices from a Supra /Nissan 350z / Nissan R35 GTR shop in the states. You can probably talk to them about it, here is a link to their turbo section on their site

Lithium, you have to remember that US figures always read higher than ours here. I made over 600hp with my HKS GT3037S on 25psi (SR20DET), I never tried to push it harder because I didn't want to risk blowing it to bits.

Also the use of E85 has pushed turbo outputs beyond their ratings.

I ordered a Precision 6262S not long ago and am waiting on it to arrive from the states still. Happy days soon, hopefully :ermm:

Would one of these be a good option for an RB20 potentially soon to be upgraded to an R34 RB25de+t? In the 180-200rwkw range.

As PJ says, it would be plenty big. If you are aiming for an R34 25DET, you could just use that turbo. Even stock it will make that power reliably, and you can then get it highflowed down the track for another 50-100KW increase.

    • So.... when I'm finally getting around to having my power steering leak sorted, now it looks like I've got the same issue most A/T Skylines are having. My A/T light will randomly come on and I'm stuck in 3rd gear until I turn the car off and on again. Only 3 weeks ago I did a complete transmission service: Oil flush + new gasket + new filter. This came out of nowhere!! It wasn't like the car was driven hard. I drove about 3 mins down the road to get fuel and boom!!!  Anyway, I have a few questions and hope you fine people can help me out here. All questions are in red. 1. The solenoids: I was looking at the parts catalogue in Amayama and I could only find the Solenoids as an assembly. https://www.amayama.com/en/part/nissan/319404ax05 I read in another thread that Solenoid A = 31940-4AX02 & Solenoid B = 31940-4AX05 but the Amayama product has only the code of B. Is this the right part? Can anyone who has done the Solenoid changes or seen them confirm if this is the complete set of A & B?   2. Gasket and Filter: I'm not going to try change the solenoids myself because it seems difficult to do in a home garage with just 2 jack stands. I plan to take it to a shop and get it changed. I was also going to buy the transmission sump gasket at the same time so I don't reuse the same gasket. Should I just use the existing gasket as it has only been on the car since OCT 19th? (~3 weeks) Should I be buying a brand-new gasket and a filter? Does this job involve taking the filter out?   Thanks in advance to everyone. It's hard to find a video of someone doing a solenoid change on a R34 so any help you can give answering my remaining questions would make me less stressed.
    • Yea - From what I have seen from the video, the car idles like any R34 lol 50PSI of fuel pressure is hardly super abnormal, the regulator is working because the pressure remains static when the throttle gets revved, i.e pressure remains the same when manifold vaccuum changes. Bigger pumps on stock rails always bumped the pressure in the rail without using an aftermarket regulator to change that. Do you know what your IAC is actually doing? Has there been any data showing the stepper motor % etc? There's no way your idle is actually moving around the way the cluster(s) are indicating. You would hear the difference with the engine RPM flying to 3k and 1k in mere seconds. I'd be checking the wiring to the tacho. What the tacho is telling you and what the engine/ecu is telling you are different things. I assume your ECU doesn't display the spike. So whatever is telling the tacho to be at X rpm is doing something weird. When the going gets insane, you're on the wrong path. You've ruled out plenty of things that are working correctly/aren't the issue. Your idle isn't doing what the tacho is indicating. You have two seperate issues, I don't think they are linked, and the idle seems reasonably okay unless it's stalling which.. well, it hasn't. Troubleshoot the stall if it occurs by figuring out what your IAC is doing vs what it is being told to do.
    • So awesome! I love the RB with the exhaust on display.
    • NO HITS PRICE DROP   ENGINE - $8.5k ONO TRANSMISSION - $1.8k ONO  
    • If it has had a code in the recent past, the code should still be there waiting to be read.
