Made 286rwkw from 5558 on stock mani low mounted 98 fuel, boost 18psi dropping to 16. Told tuner to push it to 20-22psi but intake temps getting too hot. He said forward facing plenum will help cos it doesnt run along radiator and over exhaust cams as stock piping layout.. Its cold beside battery tray but heats up the next few centimeters.. Oh man that damn 300rwkw

Good work Ron!

How does it feel on the road? Does it compare to the 335kw machine you went in?

Also, who tuned it? JEM?

First impressions- L-A-G----- boy its as doughy as f**k, maybe at 60% of the stockers response up till 3500rpm, after that its coming coming then 4000rpms WHOA BANG it fkn grenades like a rocket, not much difference in seat of pants feel to the 336rwkw car, feels almost, say 90% as mad when boost is on its on! Skates and wheelspins a bit but not too mad, its awesome but the lag is just way too much, I havent driven a ' proper turboed' car so cannot judge, when I come back frm my overseas trip on Jan, u can drive it and gauge Jase, love it but the lag sucks, theres no power below 3200rpms... Is this how its suppposed to be?? 2990rpms=60kw, 3790rpms=120kw, 4720=225, 5470=260kw, 6660rpms=286rwkw

Cant upload dyno graph from iphone in the dyno results thread damn.. Anyways fullboost 18psi around 4000rpms and drops to 16psi from 5700rpms, JEM are awesome, ADAMs a top guy definitely recommend him really goes out of his way to help and explain, takes his time to go through detail by detail :)

sounds a little bit laggier than my old GTST with a 3071R on it... mine was tuned at 20 psi... see attached dyno

the different is the PT will have a lot more in it! chuck it on e85 :P

I wonder how that would compare to a standard G3 type B... For on road feel anyway.

Get the sheet up when you can, I would love to see it.

Hi guys,

I've been following this thread with quite a bit of interest and thought I'd share some info on my project.

I running an FJ20det which I swapped from my old DR30 skyline into my 1600. The previous turbo setup used a Fantasy split pulse single waste gate manifold and a twin scroll GT3071r and made 265rwkw on 22psi.

I have since built my own twin scroll manifold with twin waste gates for the 3071r. I have also built a manifold for a Vband in and out Precision 5558 which a friend of mine sources from PJs Quick Bits. I will be doing a back to back test of both these turbos on my FJ in the next few weeks and will post the results.

Cheers

Awesome that will be interesting, what fuel and engine spec? That Precision turbo should have a big edge on potential for power advantage but may need to be pushed harder than 22psi to prove it's extra lag is worth it

The engine has been rebuilt with forged piston and port work to the cylinder head. Cams are still standard. I will definitely run som proper boost through the 5558 as that's what they are made for!

I currently run two maps and I will have both tuned for each turbo set up. One for pump 98 and the other for pump 98+water injection provided by an aquamist HFS3 system. Made 295 rwkw @ 28 psi using pump 98+water injection with the 3071r. This is compared to 304 rwkw using c16. I can't speak highly enough of the water injection and once you have set up and tuned it, it's cheap as chips to run. 30 rwkw when ever you want for under a grand fitted and tuned! Can't argue with those results!

I dont think it is.

that's not why I questioned it lol, look at the power he made. 295kw. Given that he also said water injection = free 30kw, a 3071R would make 265rwkw on 18psi without hassle. Not 28psi lol.

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
    • Hmmm interesting. Mine is the exact same and clearly the right one.  The mystery of the engine oil being full after 3.5-4L continues
    • Yes I as well would like to find out where I could get some of the seat material with the red or blue small squares in it
