Guys,

Plenty of notice on this one and entries are certainly not open as yet and costs to be confirmed. Circuit Car Club plan to hold a track day at the Peats Ridge track. This is not a beginners track day and this track does carry alot more risk than the rest of the tracks around but for the experianced, I don't think you'd want to miss this!

Qualifying is required on the 17th July at MDTC with Circuit Car Club or you can arrange to drive MDTC in your own time and be observed by a track official for this purpose.

Just bare in mind that the pin could be pulled on the Peats Ridge day depending on how Circuit Club go at their first day there on the 16th May. So I'd hold off on booking until the feedback is received on this day.

Here is the booking form for the qualifying day on the 17th July 2010.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Liz.

Yeah - You're on the money with that one Duncs, this qualifying day is more about the Club observing whether drivers obey the track rules and driving behavours rather than skill, so it sounds like there will be some fairly strict rules in play.

hey morgs... the info is soooooooooooo limited and usually only sent out to people after they qualify at MDTC but I've emailed a mate who's organising it to get us a sneak peak! I'll post it up as soon as I hear from them.

the link I posted was an entry form for the MDTC day.

I'm calling racebrakes first thing Monday to get some replacement bits for my AP's before MDTC.

It's a good thing qual isn't dependant on times cause we would get our asses kicked as a club by circuit club and their well sorted lightweight Hondas etc

Liz check your phone!

My little race car will be too loud for this track I think however I was considering taking my ute and just do a dozen laps because I want to experience this track.

Also, if you attend the Anzac day trackday with CircuitClub it can be used as your obersvation qualifying for the Peats Ridge track.

Here are some of the T&C's:

# No photos, no YouTube clips to be posted of this event on the internet – participants can take 20 or 100 photos and have these sent to owner to be vetted. The owner has software which trawls the internet picking up information/images of his track and will sue individuals if found to have posted these without his authorisation.

# Street registered cars will be given preference due to limited area available for the parking of trailers – please advise if you have a trailer

# Open top cars must be fitted with a roll cage (or have a factory structural bar support behind the driver’s seat for newer cars – please check with me) prior to participating at Peats Ridge.

# No random spectators are allowed – each driver is allowed to bring 2x ‘pit crew’ members only and must arrive with the driver. This due to the limited parking and lack of amenities available on site as it is not a commercial venue.

# If you car is unfit for participation on the day, you will be asked to leave and no refunds will be offered. Please ensure you complete a mechanical service prior to attending to ensure there are no fluid/oil leaks or loose parts inside the cabin or on the vehicle which could be dropped on the track.

# Drivers are not expected to be driving at full vehicle capacity on the day – this is a VERY dangerous track, with no runoff areas so any reckless driving will not be tolerated and will result in instant dismissal without a refund.

Um yeah clarification here would be nice

Driving at full capacity, is that a nice way of saying full throttle?!

Also "reckless" driving, we will all need this clearly defined to avoid dissapointment. Eg is braking hard before a corner reckless?

Some cars also have way more potential than others, like BenM's Nascup and ute or my gtr and Supra, so someone may bring a stock S13 for example and I bring a gtr, naturally one will be faster than the other so does that mean the faster car is just classified reckless and sent home?...

I'm not trying to sound like a smartass, just don't want to go through everything and get there only to do one lap and be sent home.

Neil or Duncan going absolutely full pace like they did at Oran Park (ie super late braking, sliding through corners, cutting ripple strips, etc etc [and fully in control for their driving abilities]) would be the "not expected to run at full capacity". Sure they are great drivers and cut very good laptimes but they are also much closer to having a major off than say someone cruising around in a GTS-t doing 15sec a lap slower.

Stuart having a major off everytime he went into turn 1 at Oran Park could be considered "reckless driving". Sure he's not meaning to do it and goes home with a big grin on his face but it also poses as a massive risk to the track owner if some guy is constantly spinning off and possibly killing himself by taking out a tree or wall.

Sure you may run wide on some corners or cut across the grass because its a new track and nobody knows it but if you go out there trying to be the next Peter Brock in the first half of your first lap expect to have a 1on1 with the track owner.

I'm doing the Qualifying at the Anzac Day CircuitClub trackday in my nascup car but will take my ute to Peats Ridge because I just want to cruise around it and add it to my list of tracks ive been on.

nice post but im disappointed my off's didn't get a mention.

this is going to be a good experiance, just doing a track that a limited number of people are doing! I'm looking forward to it.

Um yeah clarification here would be nice

well simply enough - this is a private driveway not a race track.

I have no idea what insurance the owner has in place to protect themselves. Maybe nothing??

There are no run offs

There are no sand traps

There are trees beside the tarmac.

I would expect to be sent home if I left the track or was constantly sideways or looked like I was constantly trying to hard.

I have no idea why these guys are willing to share this place, but I am delighted they do. Anyone who ruins the place by ignoring the owner's rules would be a real f**kwit.

    • I would again like too thank Matt for his help in me sourcing the detachable hard top for the little red car, without Matt's assistance in inspecting it and locking it down, I can guarantee it would have sold before I could get up to see it,  and as that was the only available NC hardtop in Australia, I consider myself extremely lucky on multiple levels To say I'm more that happy would be an understatement And, it is 100% water tight, I drove through torrential rain coming back south, and by torrential, they type of rain that doing 40kph in a 110kph zone was a real thing, and even then, the standing water on the Hwy was deep enough to throw waves I'm also more than happy that the huge "BEASTS" that Matt calls dogs didn't eat me for lunch, I'm sure the sniffs and licks were more to "taste test" me, over being to friendly Now to work out what colour to get it painted, panel match, or gloss black........first world problems are real
    • Actually I might have figured out. Looks like there is a tab according to google images but it's hidden. Silly me.
    • No clips on this one like the other connector. Only that red tab that I can push slightly up.
    • For any loom connector that has an obvious release that resists pushing far enough to unclip, just spray some silicone lube into it. You might also benefit from using a bent screwdriver or small pick to push in the right place at the right angle.
    • Hey all, I went to try and fix my indicator not canceling, but I couldn't remove the clockspring cable under the column so I could twist that green thin. Anyone know how to remove this cable? I see this red tab but didn't have any luck. I was thinking of unscrewing it but wasn't sure if it would cause issues. I did notice for my indicator stalk, 2 out of 3 cables were plugged in but the last cable wouldn't fit in the stalk. I'm getting it's for fog lights. It was like this when I originally pulled it off.
