Hi guys

Have been a long time reader, but never really posted at all.

I currently have a dillemma on my hands which I'm hoping some of the good people at SAU will resolve.

In about a year I plan on purchasing my next car. I figure this will give me enough time to start saving etc.

I'm looking at a couple of options. All around the High teens, low 20's.

1. Xr6 Turbo

I currently have a BA XR6, great car but it handles like a boat and I'd rather not be part of the whole ford/holden scene again. I hate the fact that every time I drive down the road some idiot on their VN commodore has to race me. Having a backseat is nice although I'd really like to spend a few years in a coupe.

2. R32 GTR

I have wanted one of these since the first time I saw one. The only thing that's really holding me back is the fact it's quite an old car now. I would like to keep the car in a fairly stock form, obviously upgrading the gearbox, I/C and exhaust etc. As they are a performance car I understand theirs a fair bit of money involved in owning one but I'd like to hear from an owners perspective on the matter.

3. R34 GTT

I like the look of some of the 34's I've seen around, personally I think they need to be carefully modified on the exterior for it to actually look quite good. The idea of owning a newer model car rather than a 94 GTR also appeals, but it's not a GTR and that's the problem!!

So yeah, I'd like to hear from other users' perspectives on these three cars, obviously the latter are going to be a bit more supported seeing I'm posting this on SAU :)

Thanks!

Well it looks like you've voted the XR6 out already, leaving between an R32 GTR or a GT-T.

Before I say anything, most people will agree that the GT-R is the better car, and even though it seems to be 'older' the engine is the same in both R33 and R34 GT-R's. By reading what you've said about the cars, it looks like you're leaning toward the R32, which is a good thing!

Make sure you look around for the right car, it will come along, and you'll be thankful. Don't buy the first one you see on the market.

Good luck!

I'm specifically after a white R32. But I've seen a couple with that purpley/black colour on the 33's and I quite like that, but the missus doesn't :)

I'd probably try and get a tastefully modded one and would probably start looking on here first.

I think you're going the right direction - looking at what's available on SAU too.

Just remember to buy a nice bracelet for the missus, and box it/wrap it up with nice ribbon and strategically put it on her side of the car!

Even if she's looking at a one that's $650 at Michael Hill, she'll still be happy with the $65 one if it's presented well!

('er, sorry ladies...)
