A new article appeared today at http://www.speedcafe.com.au/2010/03/29/aus...ed-for-12-hour/ which reads ...

"The 2011 Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour will be open to vehicles eligible to compete under the Australian GT Championship rules.

All divisions within Australian GT, namely GT Championship (GT3), GT Challenge, and GT Production will be eligible. Other production cars that have competed in the 12 Hour over the past four years will still be eligible to compete ...

The inclusion of GT cars has been endorsed by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS).

The chances of international drivers and teams participating in the race is high with Irish international driver Hector Lester greeting the news enthusiastically.

“If the event is promoted well to overseas drivers well in advance they will be interested,” Lester said.

“There is absolutely no downside to the announcement and the timing of such an event means it is possible for internationals to consider it" "

A comment in this article on Speedhunters about the Titan FIA GT1 R35... http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009/04/08...ia-gt1-r35.aspx reads ...

"I would love to see a watered down GT2 (alms) or GT3 Fia Entry"

I mean seriously - imagine cars like these but built to FIA GT3 specs at Bathurst racing against Porsche's, Mosler's and the like  ...

i am not sure this is a good development. the event is just starting to gather it's own momentum (not due to any exotic drawcards) surely they've just handed the outright win to a GT car? would that not double or tripple the budget required to win? (if not more)
