Interstate Transport - Open Truck Vs Closed

What is the best way to transport a car interstate?

So far I'm booked in to go with TOLL, however I've been told this is an 'open truck' service. A mate who had his car transported like this said his car had a few stone chips when he got it.

What services have people used in the past - and what price did you pay?

I was just quoted $1850 from Alans car carriers to have it sent in a fully sealed truck.

Note this was from Brisbane to Melbourne, sent to home address (not depot).

ermmm... i was quoted $1300 nsw to perth - yours seems a little pricey IMHO but then again i dunno about sealed truck... see if you can buy a car cover via an agent or something n get them to put it on maybe? i guess stone chips are about as inevitable as they are attainable...

Yeah that's true. Am I just delaying the inevitable? Still, this is a 10,000kms grade 5A car, I want to be the one to first put the scratches on it.

Surely heaps of people on this board have experience with this?

Oh yeah that's the 'web quote'. A friend got a car over from Perth - Melb for $900, so I know they're negotiable. They charge something like $15k for a Ferrari!!
