There is an unmarked camera car parked on High St between Ferry Rd and Smith St on the Hospital side it's a grey Swift or something very similar. BEWARE.

If you vere driving the Silvia it got you to

;) 25KS over, anyone know the damage ?

And before the sanctimonious start there was nothing on the road in front except me and the Silvia 1 lane away-and in front and it was only a little burst of (untimely) enthusiasm

For a minute I was thinking High Street in Toowong, and was about to serve you a real ass tearer on a silver platter because if you know the street you'd know how stupidly dangerous it'd be to be 25 over there. But then I kept reading and realised it was Gold Coast and couldn't care less.

Double demerit points

Double demerit points apply in Queensland to drivers and motorbike riders who commit more than one of the following offences within a 12 month period:

Penalty sets (km/h over speed limit)

First offence Second offence (within a year)

Demerit point penalty

Monetary penalty

Demerit point penalty

Monetary penalty

21-30 km/h four points A$333 eight points A$333

31-40 km/h six points A$466 12 points A$466

41 km/h and above eight points and six months suspension A$933 16 points and six months suspension A$933

qld doesnt have double demerits so its 4 points and $333 unless its your second offence in 12 months

correct. qld doesn't have double demerit points over holiday periods like NSW and WA do (they are the only ones who do). we only have them for repeat offences in a 12 month period, however if people think it is double points & fines and it slows them down, then that is a good thing.

also if you are on your P's, you just lost all your points and you will be walking for the next 3 months, unless you go on a 1 point good behavior licence for a year.

Actually... one follow up.

How did you decide 25kms over the speed limit was a good idea near a hospital? What happens if an Ambulance came out of a side street running silent because they had a heart attack patient on board?

The faster you Gold Coastians can take each other out, the sooner we can build something useful down there, so I don't really care. Just wondered what made you think that was smart.

I said the same side as the hospital I was way past the hospital there is no side street for anything else to come out of its a 3 lane each way highway and had nothing except me and a Silvia going same direction on it.

Secondly --momentary lapse of judgement --it'll be my second speeding ticket in 45years of driving --.

Thirdly--I aint from the Gold Coast and nobodys managed to do anything usefull with it in the 100+ years, what makes you think that the hicks from Hicksville will do any better --mind you wouldn't be hard I spose.

Fourthly-- where do all you sanctimonious people come from ? :action-smiley-069:

You meant to say "No side streets except Nerang Street & Queen Street"... right? They're the two streets that run perpendicular to High street on the hospital block. Maybe they were hard to see at high speed?

45 years not enough practice for you?

Well your information under your name says "Surfers Paradise" so easy enough mistake to make when you advertise it so proudly. And anyone could do better with the Gold Coast simply by not making it a drug and tourist hot spot. Even hicks.

Good breeding :)

Between Cougal and Johnson you as you've obviously had your little street directory out

45 years not enough practice for you?

Not me and the other 4500/5000 others booked for speeding in Qld last couple of days -not counting the score from unmarked unatended units.

Whos proud,- thats a warning.

Good breeding :)

Ah-Hem inbreeding is more probable. :)

I wonder if those around the world providing excuses/reasons/right to act in a manner deemed as inappropriate (use of a motor vehicle) would say or think the same way if they killed their mother/father/brother/sister/wife/husband/child or laid in hospital as a quadriplegic.

I know if someone provided me with an excuse/reason/right to why they injured or killed my relations it would not stand as sufficient - and God/Allah have mercy on your soul for what would happen to you.

[/rant]

I'm out of this post I don't believe that there is anyone out there that hasn't knowingly exceeded trhe speed limit.

I further don't believe that anyone who drinks hasn'y knowingly driven when they're over the limit.

I posted the warning for the benefit of other members not the good of my health.

I have no interest in reading sanctimonious hypocritical bullshit.

I won't bother another time.

:)

Until it actually affects them and their loved ones I'm sure they have as many excuses as it takes. If the answer to "why were you speeding?" is anything other than "because I was being a dickhead" then it's the wrong answer.

    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
    • The hydrocarbon component of E10 can be shittier, and is in fact, shittier, than that used in normal 91RON fuel. That's because the octane boost provided by the ethanol allows them to use stuff that doesn't make the grade without the help. The 1c/L saving typically available on E10 is going to be massively overridden by the increased consumption caused by the ethanol and the crappier HC (ie the HCs will be less dense, meaning that there will definitely be less energy per unit volume than for more dense HCs). That is one of the reasons why P98 will return better fuel consumption than 91 does, even with the ignition timing completely fixed. There is more energy per unit volume because the HCs used in 98 are higher density than in the lawnmower fuel.
    • No, I'd suggest that that is the checklist for pneumatic/hydraulic adjustable systems. I would say, based on my years of reading and complying with Australian Standards and similar regulations, that the narrow interpretation of Clause 3.2 b would be the preferred/expected/intended one, by the author, and those using the standard. Wishful thinking need not apply.
