Can anyone advise whether I can replace the front tyres without replacing rears?

My front insides are worn out. There is a 1cm strip of "no tread" about 1cm from the inside edge. The middle to the outsides are still good. Not even down to the wear indicators yet. It seems such a waste to replace them.

However the rears are fine.

So I was thinking of replacing the fronts only with the same Bridgestones.

Will it trigger the TPMS warning or stuff up the 4wd mechanism?

Won't cause any probs other than your worn rears may not have as much traction as your new fronts making the car more biased towards oversteer and just may affect when VDC cuts in. Other than that the slight difference in diameter etc wont affect anything and TPMS definitely wont be affected. Nissan fitted two new fronts on mine and if it really did matter Im sure they would have changed all of them....

While on this subject, has anyone arrived at a wheel alignment setting for a daily driver that doesn't result in premature inside edge wear? Even at min neg camber, if I compensate by extra toe in all it does is just add wear to the outside in addition to the excessive inside edge wear. The middle of the tread remains untouched.... Is the only way to find some aftermarket means of reducing my front neg camber?

Thanks for the responses guys.

My alignment settings for road-use was smack in the middle of the recommended range.

I guess I could ask them to push it to the maximum allowable positive camber next time.

Might not like the traction loss around corners though.

I have been "hanging on" to my original set of Bridgestones for too

long & they are totally useless at the track now. They have 12000km

on them & still have plenty of tread but they have been melted from

3 track days & today was the last straw.

Seems like the Dunlops are the go to replace them - what other alternatives

do we have now?

go the dunlops munro, I think they are the best option on a set of stock wheels for mixed track and street use. if you have trouble sourcing them for good money, call Taleb Tyres in Sydney, speak to Ali and tell him I put you in touch. he'll do a good price. when I last checked for a replacement set for my old 35 his price was on par with me buying them wholesale in japan and shipping them out myself.
