Hi all, i'm thinking about putting a boost controller on my gtt just for a little extra power at the flick of a switch and my friend questioned there being a fuel cut off when the boost is higher than stock? So i'm wondering how much extra boost i can get before that will cut in.

And your thoughts about the whole process will be appreciated.

Wind your boost up til you hit boost cut or R&R or whatever your car does (but not more than 10- 12psi) and then knock it back til it stops doing that. Then leave your boost controller alone and control the extra power with your right foot.

I cant recall the exact figure off the top of my head, but I believe it's 12psi that the ECU cuts for overboost protection.

My S1 R33 gtst is on 11psi at the moment with no issues, so you should be fine with 10-11psi

In my gtt i was getting 11-12 without R&R, so it should be good for that much, but don't go past 12psi (everyone says the turbo won't last long past this boost level).

Also if you're using the factory guage it is not very accurate and you won't know exactly what boost your running. On mine 11psi (according to my ebc) looks like a bit over 0.9bar on the factory guage...

Thanks for the replies. It looks like 11psi is the go. I'm not overly concerned for damage at this stage as it will be of infrequent use (whenever i need to feel like ive got more power than i do) or whenever i see hot girls if im feeling like a douche (just kidding with that one) but yeah my mate talks about running 13-14 with stock parts should be okay and that he has that all the time just uses accelerator to control how hard he goes (and by going soft, runnig high boost is fine) but yeah i wanna play it safe and just use the flick of a switch.

If you guys think of anything else i should know let me know

Yeah, most of my daily driving I won't even hit positive boost, even though I'm set on 11psi...your friend is right, it's all about the right foot and how you use it. Just drive easy on the throttle and you won't need to worry about boosting until you need it (or feel like giving it a squirt)

the general consensus is that R&R starts over 10psi and that the turbo's dont like more than 12psi

these figures are only a guide tho.

when i had a stock turbo and ECU it was on around 10psi and didn't skip a beat, then when the powerFC went in i ran the stock turbo at 1 bar for around a year and a half with no issues, i personally dont reccomend this as the turbo doesn't really give you any more go after 12psi anyway... i just wanted to see if it would hold up until i upgraded it

    • Have you tried one of those wash mitts @PranK? I find it works so much better than brushes on a stick for cleaning wheels. If fingers fit between the spokes, then can easily clean them with a mitt. I like Bowden's Own and use their Love Glove, as gay as it sounds. https://www.bowdensown.com.au/products/microfiber-range/love-glove That applicator looks super handy! Earmarked for next time I'm splurging on cleaning supplies.

    • Hey, guys, I’m hoping I can find answer here. I have already done some searching and asking around but still nothing.    I fitted an IC7 dash in my R32 GTR, and I got everything displaying on the dash except my high beams. I get input voltage and the high beams displaying in the dash when I pull the lever, but not when I fully engage the high beams. I spliced into the Red/Blue Beam+ wire in the black center connector from the cluster, but there is also a black Beam wire I think I need to use as well. The high beams still work. It’s just a matter of getting it to display on the dash.    Has anyone fully wired in their IC7 properly ? I would appreciate any guidance on this.    IMG_8835.mov
