Well the other day I was pulling out the old cabling that didnt plug into any thing as I was ripping the car apart I traced a Black cable back to the ECU and notice I had a Mines ECU installed as I said well well well what have I here very nice indeed well I have no idea what the big differ this dose so did a little looking around and come across this

Tuned for:

Boost up,rev up,FMIC,exhaust,Intake filter,DI Splitfire,All limiters removed

Specs:

1 Eliminate 180km top speed limiter

2 Shift rev limiter timing

3 Eliminate boost limiter

4 Modification of fuel correction map and Ignition map

5 Change quorum

6 Change lattice of the map (RPM, injection time)

7 Modify every correction points

Now is there any thing I should be aware of that I should or should not do

I know the fuel runs sweet

430Km 56Lts Result 12.79L/100km 15% city driven and rest Highway down the south coast and drive it like a babe all the way

Oh yeah why I'm here.... Is it ok to just drive the car in tip tronic mode for long amount of time as I so sick of the turbo just want to take off every time I pick up the speed a little

feels like I'm on boat as I notice to leave it in 4 gear (tip) and I could drive with out the head rocking back and forwards.

Im assuming your auto works similar to the M35, in drive it is straight on boost. Tiptronic mode actually locks the tourque converter almost as soon as the gear is selected which makes the box more efficient as it reduces the heat generated in the converter.

One thing you have to watch though, (as I found out the hard way) the trans cooler is bypassed once the torque converter is locked so if you have been giving it a boot full in drive, let it cool down before you start using tiptronic. My converter stored enough heat to boil the radiator cooler once I took it out of tiptronic, a good 10 minutes after I was thrashing drive. I hate to think what temperature the fluid got to.

Mines ecu? Nice. Does it shift quicker with that ecu? It would be great if you could drive a stocker and let us know...

Almost everybody here in the UK seems to believe that Mines ECUs are all mapped on super 100 octane fuel and that the ignition map is way too harsh, so nobody likes them. Personally I suspect it's just another internet myth, but I've yet to uncover any hard evidence either way.

It's good to here from somebody who is actually running one and has no problems.

We have a Mines ECU also, but we also have a stock ECU we tried for a while.

You can notice a difference between the 2. fuel consumption is crap on both.

the rev limit goes from 6800 to 7000 on ours. we don;t have a front mount but it might of had one in Japan.

It bypassed the 'half boost' mode they have, with the 4psi then 8. Just goes straight up, didn't need to earth the solenoid.

But it's been pretty good to have so far. no complaints, just uses too much fuel.

So would you maybe think mine could be at full boost all time? Maybe its time to install a guage to tell me whats going on...

I have made contact with Mines Motor sports to see if they can give me more details about this unit as it has a serial number and may have data base on all Mines ECU other there.

maybe I'll buy a Nissan OBD Datacable RB25DET Neo as I'm a technical software junkie all way good to have a look at these things.

I believe each mines ECU is set up for each individual cars modifications. As you have noticed they can give you some information if you give them your serial number etc. I have yet to do this. Hopefully they will tell you if your ECU is optimised for turbo type A, injector size B etc etc.

My unit is very aggressive on the ignition timing and I have to use RON98. Moving your static timing around seems to have an effect on when the trans locks up. It may help the on/off feeling when driving on the freeway. I think it works by more load being shown to the transmission on lighter throttle when the ignition is advanced. There is a link from the ECU to the Transmission CPU which transmits the current load on the motor to the Trans I believe.

If you hear a tinkling noise kinda like noisy tappets its called pinging and you are too far advanced for your petrol. The repair will be expensive if you leave it that far advanced. I used to hear it on light throttle but it would stop if I gave it more throttle so its not just when you are giving it the berries that you may have problems. I had to retard it to stop the pinging.

get an ecutalk display (www.ecutalk.com)

i love my gadgets but this thing is awesome, can be used as a consult cable but also reads off every sensor and can do fuel consumption (once you set the injector size)

you can get just the cable or the display as well. Looking at the ebay job it looks like it will probably work only on very late neos as most have consult only and not OBD.

if you want the display but are concerned it might not work, you can return it if it doesnt for full refund (im the one that makes them).
