Tangles
hi. Ive just installed R32 GTR Sutimoto front brake calipers onto my Stagea replaces 2-pot single sided stock calipers. Ive connected the line up to the R32 GTR calipers, all good there. No leaks (now). There is a loud metalic rub noise 0-10kmph. The pads are brand new A1RM trackpads, against slotted rotors I had to bend the ends of the dust guard to fit the longer calipers in - should I simply cut it out? Goes 3/4 around the rotor I cant think what else would be making contact against the rotor Car is out atm, wife needed to babysit & my mate had already borrowed her car. So Im a little worried that its been driven (5kms) without me knowing whats making contact (somewhere) on the rotors. either pads are damned noisey at low kms, or dust guards somehow touch somewhere thoughts? cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/315869-front-brakes/ Share on other sites
Madaz
yeah cut it man, i installed stagea hubs into my car with gtst rotors and had to cut the dust guard off the rears the fronts were easy enough to pull off Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/315869-front-brakes/#findComment-5171232 Share on other sites
Tangles
seems to be the dust guard touching at 1 little point just snapped a wheel stud, so the rubbing is least of my concern atm out for a while to get it replaced, then might give it a go again, might not too - knees a megaf**ked Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/315869-front-brakes/#findComment-5172232 Share on other sites

Tangles
thanks lovely!! yeh its all good, calipers are fine, no more rubbing going on. seems as if it was the dust guard touching the inside of the rotor. got a replacement stud from unley nissan, will install it tomorrow cant do much now, not even walking !!!! all's ok tho. GTR R32 Sutimoto brake calipers and QFM A1RM track pads are fricken awesome! brings the 1800kg wagon (incl driver) to a dead stop in a split second. Madaz
yeah and the stage would have ABS so you can really stomp hard on the brakes Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/315869-front-brakes/#findComment-5172586 Share on other sites
Weezy
I'll be keen on giving them QFM pads a go next time, I'm running EBC green stuff and I never exp brake fade, even after a good decent run in the hills. Tangles
well, the noise at the beginning was real-bad Im sure it was a slight touch of dust guard against rotor but, my rotors were pretty rough, so perhaps it was initial pad wear? the rotors seem smoother now, there is no noise, and I dont really think I did anything this morning, bar poking and prodding, to fix any noise issues up made sure lines wernt a problem anywhere, moved the hubs around and couldnt replicate the noise got to replace a broken wheel stud in the morning, I'll have another look at whats going on, but just perhaps the noise was pads against warped rotor? anyways, stops on a dime ontop of a knifes edge. all is well with the world of stagea brakes, bar the poor little track car's lack of front calipers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/315869-front-brakes/#findComment-5172860 Share on other sites
Tangles
yeh was the dust-guard rubbing at a point. fixed the stud easily enough, all is great!!! body is damned sore, however the braking performance is simply amazing. an awesome upgrade, GTR calipers and track pads Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/315869-front-brakes/#findComment-5173829 Share on other sites
