Just wired up my avcr and after some fiddling at idle took it for a blast around the block to check everything.

I should have maybe checked the boost limit before decking it, but when my Autometer gauge screamed past 20psi i knew it was set a little too kigh by the units previous owner.

Turns out i actually hit 1.45bar with factory turbo and I/C, woops.

After one quick blast in 2nd gear decided to drive ultra conservative until i again parked it... BUT i had to give it one quick blast in 2nd gear.

She survived, only held there for 3-4 seconds but **** the go it had, even when you consider the turbo was way off its effeciency curve, no pinging either.

Back to a boring 11-12psi!

That didnt even dawn on me.

The other day i had to replace the gasket on the tubo-manifold. Upon removing the heat shield i noticed the reason the gasket blew out was that there was only three bolts on the turbo's exhaust housing to the manifold.

Someone had obviously removed the turbo at one time or another.

Upon closer inspection i couldnt see the preload screw in the centr housing of the turbo. Does this mean its not a BB turbo, how can i tell.

When i purchased the car it had a heap of wiring in the front end that wasnt connected to anything, as well as a little toggle switch down near the accelerator pedal???

Car has been ultra relaible if not all that quick. In 2-3 weeks getting turbo rebuilt so not too worried about any possible damage caused, as long as it holds together for the next fortnight.

Off to read up on fuel pumps, before the IC goes in this weekend.
