bigcarl
ive read the diy thread on toluene and iam thinking about tuning my car on a mix of the stuff , but does anyone know how much of a measurable difference does it make say in rwkws, has anyone on this forum tuned there skylines on the stuff? what difference has it made? and if so with what other modifications? RNS11Z
I gained an extra 30rwkw. Its not as simple as just pouring the Toluene in. It works better with higher ignition timing and boost. It does create extra heat and can burn your exhaust gasket. bigcarl
hi rns11z, what ratio did you mix it and with what fuel; eg. bp ultimate / 30% toluene? also what a turbo and mods are you running? RNS11Z
I used it at a 20% mixing rate with BP Ultimate. It was on my previous set up with a GT30 (500hp) Turbo. Danish
How about running a mixture of ethenol instead? It burns colder and should be cheaper. If tuned correctly it should create a lot of power. bigcarl
rns11z what sought of power were you making and at what boost setting with the gt30 500hp turbo before and after running toluene? Dr Drift do you tune link aftermarket ecu? i spoke to ian weightman of amberley autos in dandenong and said he wouldnt touch it, he said that he only likes to tune apexi fc , autronic and motec!!!! what do you make of this? oh yead he reckons micro tech and wolf is crap too!! guess no one told him yet that there are a few skylines running 9 and 10 sec passes on these so-called crap ecus!! not every body has got a spare $4500 for motec! no matter how good they are. Dr_Drift
RedLineGTR - Haven't tried to source it personnaly, but I beleive you buy it from BP at a 'cleaning' agent.... refer to other posts about it. SMB315 - Yes you can run more boost, but you'll still be limited if running the standard ceramic wheels. bigcarl- Yes I can and have tuned several link ecu's and I know why Ian won't tune them, for the same reason I won't recommend them. I only tune them if someone already has one. The older microtech's were fairly neanderthal but the new ones have full map matrix tuning on fuel and pretty good ignition mapping. Wolf looks very good on paper, only done a couple of these though with mixed thoughts. Personnaly my favourites are re-mapping the standard ECU's just wish i could do the RB25's economically. Also, for reference my old 180sx was running a pretty much standard setup with a remapped ECU, 1.1 bar of boost, and a 20% Toluene mix... GTRgeoff
Hey Pred..... what evil are you planning? Dr Drift, I may be in a position for some toulene tuning in about 3-4 weeks all going well with the engine rebuild. Getting the PFCas recommended by a well known performance tuner so I will be looking for the right settings for the track (circuit) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/31633-anyone-tuned-there-skyline-on-toluene/#findComment-640048 Share on other sites
