I read the first page and I agree with most of the comments and suggestions. This is a great idea and all, but at the end of the day our country is in a mass amount of debt, if they can find a way to get more money out of us they will. All these ideas take time, time costs money and money is something we don't have a lot of at the moment.

In relation to the first post of this thread hypothetically, if these ideas were to be brought to life it would greatly reduce the income of the government. The police target modified cars more than standard cars because they know there will be something to defect. I've never been defected and the cost of these may vary state to state but let's assume the charge per defect is $110. The police show up to a "car cruise" organised on the internet and defect 35 cars out of the 50 that have shown up, let's assume that these cars have one defect - this will net them $3850. This doesn't include the 5 idiots who were speeding on the way there, the 2 idiots who are over the limit and the 1 idiot who has drugs in his car.

It is unfortunate that modified cars are seen as an easy buck to make. The police aren't going to sit outside a school and ask the mothers to do a drug test or breath test - that would be absurd. It would also be a large waste of money, there will probably be one or two there if at all, who are over the limit.

I love the idea and am excited to see what will come of this. I just can't see it happening. There's too much money to be lost on the governments side. Not to mention the cost they will incur to retrain police as well as setting up the 13 number. You also have to realise that they need to employ more government staff to cope with these changes, let's say an office of 20 people with varying wages between 35k and 90k a year - add these all up and that's big money.

I also know how frustrating it is to have people complain about a rumbling exhaust in their quiet neighbourhood street but every time ACA or Today Tonight do a feature on car hoons, they're recruiting more supporters who believe that we're all out to do skids and eat babies. Whilst there are quite a few car enthusiasts and clubs out there, we're still a minority.

I'm only 20, so maybe I've got it all wrong but this is my opinion and I'm hoping someone out there will look into it.

According to Petition #2 about "Responsibility" hylian, one of about eight suggestions that'd be brought up would be this very issue about $$$. I will be suggesting that people older than 50 have their driving capabilities retested every 10 yrs until 70 > then @ every 5 year gold lic. renewal.

Many older dudes like ourselves don't do enough headchecks, indicating, park-by-feel rather than park-by-sight etc etc.

It's a farkin' embarrassment.

RTA can reap $$$ out of the above.

The eyesight test is a farkin' joke!

You only have to look straight ahead. No 60 yr old like myself who wants to keep his licence (for independence' sake) is going to admit that his/her peripheral vision (ie through the common condition called cataracts) is impaired. Bluddy hell, some dudes can't even hear sirens > there should be results of hearing tests presented to the RTA as well as eye tests (from hearing centres & optometrists respectively). When I turn 75, one of you fellahs might like to buy my R34 (through forced sale) - it'll still have less than 100,000Km on it LOL :D

Can you imagine Terry in his red 4W scooter with his SAU flag hangin' off the back? LOL!

Both Petitions will be decided upon at the next SAUNSW Exec Meeting early July.

According to Petition #2, it would be good to discuss the commonsense values proposed by...

Mr Carr-Gregg - Psychologist in Adolescent Behaviour/Cognition and

Mr Skaife with regard to focussing more on Driver Skills/Awareness > Road Quality > Vehicle Quality

...as in http://au.tv.yahoo.com/sunday-night/video/-/watch/20309503/ brought to my attention by Jason aka skins - Thanks Jason.

^^^ I think the Police Commisioner & Police Minister need to take a good hard look at the German model.

Watched the Mark Skaife video. Very true.

The German and the Finnish models should be modelled. They are by far the most progressive and most successful in the world.

Keep going men! I am thankful that you guys are stepping up. The RTA doesn't listen to youngins like me, no matter how i phrase the argument.

Thanks to all 14 other SAUers right around the country who have stitched these 2 petitions together

I'm wondering if there's one senior driver in each state who is willing to put his/her name to each of the 2 petitions, because my name will go onto the NSW ones only. PM me about this please.

The NSW petitions will be released shortly; so a state/territory rep (from TAS, WA, QLD, NT, VIC, ACT) might put his/her hand up then perhaps.

They've so far been approved by the SAUNSW Executive only.

They're being scrutinised by a solicitor - a traffic lawyer atm.

The petitions are geared to be generic without any bias towards or away from SAU.

They are also engineered to be distributed through car clubs, motoring organisations, car magazines and members of the MTA

Ultimately, the 2 petitions (as a pair) will be handed to each state's Police Minister.

    • Late to this party but here is your go to shop in perth - https://www.facebook.com/gsautoworksau GTSBOY is on the money cost wise, drive in and out will cost you 15-30k or more.    Some items that will save you money  - plug in link ecu g4x is much cheaper than haltech.   -Pulsar turbo, seem to be "OK" now, never used one myself You really don't have to build the motor, E85, headgasket, studs and a good RB26 will live for ever.    Swapping over the twins won't save much as you still need ecu, tune, fuel system etc.
    • Welcome back to the scene! Godzilla Motorsports were well regarded back in the day.  My GT-R had work done there prior to my ownership.   SRS (Street Race Solutions) in Toowoomba worth a look.  They've built some pretty wild Skylines. Their YouTube channel is comedic to watch!  I'm sure they're all on the glass BBQ but they get shit done! 🤣
    • Hard to say what the extra connector is, it looks a bit like a coax type connector, so possibly a separate radio/GPS antenna, or even another camera input?  The V37 series (including the Q50), did go through a model refresh in 2020, since Australia didn't get any Q50s newer than 2019, we didn't get any of the refreshed models, so there could also be other unexpected problems to overcome to swap an older Q50 head unit into a new model V37. There probably aren't too many people around that have made these sorts of changes to a Q50/V37, so you might end up being the first if you do decide to go ahead. ACP is Apple Car Play and AA is Android Auto, they are roughly the same thing for the 2 major phone operating systems (Apple's iOS and Android), it allows you to connect your phone and access a number of your phone applications on your car system.  With Nav apps included, so you could use google maps/Waze or whatever your favourite navigation app is, instead of using the built in navi system.  I think this would be a better solution if it is only Navigation that you are looking as swapping the head unit for. GPS signals are the same around the globe as the GPS satellites continuously circle the globe, but it is the head unit that doesn't allow you to load Australian maps, or at least no-one had made an Australian map that will load up on the JDM head unit. Regarding the TV standards, I assume you are referring to the AV inputs?  I haven't ever tried to use them, Japan used a slightly modified version of the US NTSC system, and Australia uses PAL for composite video, that said, I wouldn't be surprised if a video input could work with either system.  That is mostly irrelevant here though, unless you plan to use those inputs for something?
    • If you've got bucket loads of $. Go single. If not, just upgrade the twins, Garrett -9's or whatever the current equivalent is for a healthy 350awkw and leave it at that. Will probably still cost you 10k to do in this day and age.
    • When you looking to buy injectors?? I could possibly sell you my 1d1700s for decent price. Done little work I just need bigger again 😫
