Hi all. Got a 34gtt with yellow headlights. I read that a couple yrs ago there was a guy on here in seven hills sydney (im from there too) who would do it for $150 a set inside n out and thats what i need done.

I've considered doing it myself but im worried about ruining the zenons and causing myself problems so id just like to get someone else to do it.

If anyone knows this person or someone (prefferably local to sydney/western sydney) that would be great.

Thanks.

Yeah I'm up for giving that a go but my mate said he'll do it n when i looked at the headlights, i swear some of the yellow is on the inside.

Also it gets some moisture in there so i figure getting it opened, cleaned properly n put back together properly is a good idea.

Hey mate the previous owner of my gtr got his car detailed and headlights done crystal clean at Dr Detail. Not sure of the contact details as I'm from Melbourne. But he lived in western Sydney. However my headlights are now starting to get slightly cloudy again afte only 4-5 months. I hear people find that with sand paper and polish method they do clear up but will tend to go cloudy/yellow soon after. There is a product called glasselite or glassylite not sure on the spelling but people have had good results with this and find that their headlights will stay clear for much longer. I'm thinking of giving it a try myself. I think you can get it on eBay. Anyway hoped this helped a bit.

That sounds great thanks!

Yeah I've read into this abit and its the UV coating that comes off and makes it yellow again, this UV Protectant just needs to be re-applied.

AutoBarn (if they are in Melbourne) sell kits for $40 that include required sheets of sand paper (i think like 1200-2000 grit) and polish with cloth and the protectant.

I was going to go with that myself but I don't wanna risk ruining the zenons for a small price of someone professional doing it.

don't worry mate, cars in Melbourne now... you've got the best of the best available to you. Damian @ Final Inspection.

This comes up a lot, and it's (generally) a misconception that you need to pull the headlights apart and clean the insides. The $150 price guy most likely knows this as very few lights will be needing that treatment.

Best thing is just to get the car professionally detailed, and ask the detailer to hit-up the headlights at the same time. You can use those cheap fixes like plastix or whatever, but that will last a few months. What you REALLY need to do is get a machine polisher, RO, Forced Rotation, Rotary... whatever, and use paint polish. Something fairly aggressive (polish) like Menzerna IP (Intensive Polish) or 203s and a medium cutting pad. Mask up around the headlights and away you go.

I had my headlights done about 2 years ago, people still ask me how i get them so clear. Do it properly once, keep some wax/sealant on there if you want as maintenance, and you won't have to be going back every couple months with some cheapo $15 product from autobarn.

Your best bet is just get a full car detail if it needs one, and the headlights will be included in that.
