Hanso
I'm making a sealed sub box for my Stagea & have a couple of questions. 1. What is the stuff you put inside a sub box called? It is white in the sub box I have atm. 2. Where can I buy it from? deano3350
I think its called polyfill. Pretty much pillow stuffing. some boxes use fiberglass insulation material but alot of people dont think fiberglass is very safe. Not sure where you can buy it though Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/316824-subwoofer-box-filling/#findComment-5182401 Share on other sites

Carbon 34
Its called Dacron, buy it from spot light in loose and sheet form.Jack spotlight sells it for less then 8 bucks its used for pillow stuffing, polyfill, but buy loose stuff not sheets of it unless using in a ported box. spray glue the box walls , and lightly take hand fulls of it and stick it to the box /glue do not get too much in it or it will sound muffled or flat. and do not get any on the sub frame or ports for those of using it in ported boxes a light fill is all you need, to smooth out the sound from a boomy sounding box, bass can sound tighter/quicker polyfill tricks the box into thinking its bigger then it is, by bending sound waves around the fibre's the sound length changes(acoustical physics, simplified) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/316824-subwoofer-box-filling/#findComment-5183493 Share on other sites
YZ250ftw
Yeah I use poliester fiberfill for all my boxs, just keep it away from the ports and you will be fine. bit of hot glue or stables to put it in. You can get it just about any fabric store, Ive been meaning to try the wool fiberfill oneday.
