G'day Guys,

Anyone know if they're direct fit? I've got the series 1 dash cluster and steering wheel. Reason for changin is simple because of airbag. If the airbag doesnt work if you swap them, I wouldnt be doing it. Thanks in advance.

This probably doesn't help, but I'd just point out that series 2 and series 3 dash are identical, the steering wheel only has different stitching on it in series 3, oh, there is a light switch under the dash (LHS under steering wheel) for the fog light switch on the rear in a series 3....but its tucked away

They're are a lot more series 2 owners than series 3...

If what you're asking is "can I fit a later series wheel to an S1 R33 GT-R?" then the answer is yes. The S1 wheel (single airbag model) has the airbag computer behind the airbag, in the steering wheel. This computer needs to be removed from the S1 wheel and attached to the S2/S3 wheel, after which the wheel will go on the car and the airbag will plug in. The airbag light will not be on, which seems to indicate that the system is working OK, but the only way to know for sure is to crash the car or trigger the sensor. I'm not ready to do this yet, so I can't guarantee you that the airbag "works". You will also need to fiddle with the horn wires a little, but it's a piece of cake.

The dash clusters (with the dials in them) are the same between models, no reason to change.

If you want to fit a twin-airbag dash to a single-airbag car, it can be done, but there is a LOT of work involved. Some guy in Germany did it and wrote it up on GTROC.co.uk, but it's quite involved - you need to buy a new computer, the airbags, dash, under-dash bracing, etc etc the list goes on.

f**k that shit. Too much mucking about for the 2 airbag and since I've found the solution to the other problem I have, I think I'll stick with my fat steering wheel for now.

Thanks for all the reply guys.
