No idea about the new point to point speed cameras, but the other night on channel nine news they said police were starting to use the new LIDAR speed cameras. The ones that are laser based instead of radar based and can capture photos of the front and back of vehicles traveling in both directions across two lanes each side. They are going to rake in the cash on people going 5-10km/s over the limit especially with the point to point speed cameras. They might as well just make it illegal to drive and force everybody onto public transport.... they'd still make money so it wouldn't surprise me :)

speed cameras have always been able to get the back number plate but the dont set them up that way because there easier to spot

and apparently there was one on alexander dr the other day but dont know if they were testing to what
