i was badly torn between both and you will find heaps of threads around of the same kind of thing.

I test drove a few jap spec s15's one with a bit of work i.e. exhaust, front mount and boost controller. And they were definitely quick and fun to drive. They feel much lighter through the corners although i reckon the r34 actually handles better. R34 Brakes are far superior and the gearbox craps all over the s15's. Looks i'd go for the s15.

Main reason i went r34 is i could get a decently late model for a cheaper price than i could s15s and yet the r34 is a more expensive car new. So value for money had me buying a r34 although i do have a soft spot for s15's

I have and S15 and definately prefered the physical size of one over the r34.

r34 has traction control ( at least my mates did ) s15 does not

The RB is definately a smoother motor, but I have a soft spot for the old SR

I think the SR will be better on fuel etc. So that might be a consideration

An Aussie delivered S15 is the winner.

I think the 15's are more fun to drive, but what really tips it over the edge for me is the insurance benefits in having an Oz deliver car.

I used to have an R34, check with Just Car Insurance the R34 is much cheaper to insure than the s15, aus delivered or import. I don't know about other companies.

In terms of the vs, I remeber Ben Ellis had this discussion in an issue of High Performance Imports when he was deciding on a new car. He chose the R34 due to stronger gearbox, stronger diff, better brakes. Diff and gearbox important as he was drag racing the car. But if it's just for street use all you can do is drive both and buy the one you like better.

Personally I prefer the R34, I do like the styling of the s15 I just find it a little small for my liking.

My sister had the ADM S15 which was nice but i found the JDM was even better although insurance is less. I wouldnt bother with Just Cars if you are over 25 with a decent driving record but the ADM is better for insurance wise.

My friend had a R34 GTT which i have borrowed and used and i thought it was a piece of crap.

Mind you, all cars were stock.

Why don't you test drive both and find out. "Fun" wise the S15 is definetely more chuckable due to its light nature. The SR drives a lot differently to the RB25 and feels more aggressive in the midrange when it comes on power compared to the smoothness from the RB.

Honestly drive both and see for your self. If your keeping the car relitively stock for street duties, go the S15.

    • Yeah was thinking that. I've had the car go lower idle possibly around 650rpm every once in a long time after pouring fuel and would sound quite rough like a misfire, almost like it's shit fuel or something but who knows.

Great event last year and hoping for the same this year.    I've emailed them to ask to set a location aside for the Stageas for the show and shine - they are happy to do so if we can get them numbers, I'm happy to keep track of that. Entering as Nismo category.    I'll be road tripping up from Melbourne, would be cool to convey if people are interested, maybe there is SAU convoys from each capital?
