hello again to all at skylinesaustrslia

Really need some help so maybe you guys can help.

But first off, I want to say a thanks to Chris Rogers, for those that dont know, i'm in dublin ireland, prob only about 10 350gt's in the country so no real forum/club/help as such, anyways Chris offered to send all the bits i need to do a double din swap (centre consul panel, adapters, ac unit etc), that is a pretty decent thing for someone to offer, yeah so really, thank Chris.

So heres my problem, i will try and keep this short. I can get all the gear i need to do a head set swap out, problem is the total cost would be in excess of €1700.00 (expensive head set included). Plus there always the fact that i would like to keep the cars centre panel (unless as it is) orignial.

So what i was thinking was i would keep the centre consul as is, and add a second head unit elsewhere on/in the dash.

Unfortunalty i dont know the first thing about electrics ...

What i have learned from striping out the original head set is that the power to the a/c unit doesnt work if the head set is removed.

So if i want to keep the original head set and a/c controls in tack i would need to keep the power supply.

The wires attached to the back of the head set are coloured coded and labeled so to an non electrial type like me. its easy to see which wires are for what.

What i was wondering, can the existing power and ignition switch wires be spliced to feed a seperate head set and just extend all the existing speaked wires to attach to a new head set.

ok this may all be completely wrong, hence i need some help and again sorry the post is so long

any adice much appriciated

oh .. Chris, while i am looking at the above solution, it may prove to be beyond my knowledge, if that the case i hope i can still take you on your offer to send the parts if needed.

thanks

tom

Not sure I can help you with the wiring question, but I have seen a few V35s with an aftermarket head unit where the dvd unit for the nav system is. Im sure it wouldnt be too hard to use the existing power and acc off the old nav system..

(that is assuming you cant use the std sat nav in ireland..)

A picture is worth a 1000 words.

If its not too much trouble, why dont you take some photos, draw some funky red lines about where you want things and want gone etc. and we can go from there.
