Whats up guys. Got an issue here. Just installed a BOV in my car and blocked off the stocker. Thing is i dont have a Boost controller but i usually run 0.8bar/11psi. When i slowly excelerate slowly through the gears i hit 11psi. but if hammer from first gear and change gears it i never reach the 11psi. Prolly around 0.6 bar. Do you guys think my wategate isnt opening quick enough and need a EBC? I dont have any boost leaks i dont think because when i excel gradually it holds the 0.8 bar pretty solid.

If the gate was NOT opening mate, you would be going past 11psi. Gate opens to control the boost. :(

So it's actually the opposite, it's opening too early which would sound possible.

You perhaps need a bit more pre-load on the actuator by the sound of it. Is it the factory turbo setup??

You shouldn't really 'need' a EBC, although they are a handy thing to have.

that's normal in first gear, it revs so fast it doesn't really get time to pressurise fully

as long as it's hitting it in the rest of the gears

if you really want to test if you're boosting correctly do it in 4th or 5th gear

yea it is the factory turbo set up and i do hit full boost (11psi) in 4th and 5th gear. 1st through 3rd is where the problem happens. in 3rd it almost reaches 11psi but not quite. I think ima still get the EBC because i plan to upgrade further. Thanks for the info.

Doesnt sound like a big problem then mate.

Either add a EBC in, or upgrade the actuator/more preload and it should help to alleviate the early gear issues.

Given it won't help much in 1st... but in 3rd you should make solid boost similar to 4th
