I was quoted $390 to fit heavy duty castor bushes and also told that my rear x mounting bushes are wearing out and the whole rear might be affected by swaying etc. I was quoted $980 for the rear bushes.

$980 for 4 pieces of rubber to get squeezed onto my car..... What the f**k? Is that a normal price? What should I be paying for these jobs?

Are these called pineapples? I cant find anything called x mounting bushes. The closest thing I found rear cradle bushes.. If thats them, WOW the parts only cost $120.

I would install these parts my self but how would I obtain a 5ton press to press in the caster bushes?

You should be able to install the castor bushes using a vice and a mandrel.

The x-mounting or cradle bushes? Get a suspension shop to install them, I removed everything and went there with the subframe and bushes and said "you do it" and they did for like $50 cash!

Did you have to remove the diff? I found a guide on the net which tells me how to install pineapples or something. Are those what I need or are pineapples just spacers or something?

To replace the subframe/cradle bushes you need to remove the diff and pretty much everything connected to the subframe. You can go spacers if you want but I would not, just replace the bushes, it is more work though.

its a terrible job to do those bushes - but 980's not cheap.

If you have some big breaker bars, car stands, a jack, 5 tonne press and knuckles that don't bleed you could probably do it in a day.

personally its on my list of "give it to a workshop" jobs where the pain is not worth the price.....so just find someone a little cheaper
