everytime i read all these bad things about N1's it makes me want to go straight down to the shed and unbolt mine. lol i must admit they were abitch at the track on sunday, no punch out of the turns unless over 5k, DVS32R was infront of me, his got n1's too, just got his car tuned, and you could see him pull away soon as the apex would end on the corners. Its got alot to do with Tune too. i see 8psi at 4.5k, i was running 16psi on the day seeing full boost by 5.8kish. Laggy as hell, would have to down change to second to keep it within powerband to punch out of corners. Plus loose even more time changing back up gears. ill prob go -5's when i do my build.

I can't imagine what another 100rwkw with the same (if not better) response would be like... but if I'm ever in NSW I'm coming round to find out! lol

I'm keen to try E85 next... figure as far as bang for buck at this point nothing can beat it

edit: yeah Paul the Mines 34GTR runs shorter diff ratios... I'm keen to try the GTS4 diffs, they are about 4.3 from memory... can't hurt the cruising speed that much, I hardly ever use 5th gear as with the big cams it runs more efficiently cruising at 3,500 - 4,000 rpm... you can hear its actually quieter at that rpm too which took some getting used to, looking down and seeing 4k on the tacho makes you want to shift up

Come to a DECA when im there :(

Its getting a new exhaust and more boost over the next few weeks

Do you, or anyone else know exactly what the Mines R34 has for driveline ratios?

Ive been in your car, before you owned it.

What a machine that thing is!

OP: As said, its up to you to find the amount of lag you're happy to put up with in the conditions you drive it in. Mine is between 3500/4000 and 8500rpm for HKS GTRS's although a 3L bottom end, that suits me, may not suit others. It would be a good idea to look through the dyno result threads in this section aswel, some decent info in there (aswel as a lot of crap results)

Dude, your car sounds like an Animal, boost from 3.5 - 4 K on RS's !

It all comes down to how much later will i make boost on my 2.7 then you do on your 30 ? if i could sort of get some idea of this i could either say "yep, GT-RS power" or -5's I have a feeling ide be pretty happy with both. the car is still street driven but im definately not one of these people who harps on about lag driving around town unless we are talking something monumental.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Mitch.

Sorry, a tad higher than that, my bad;

I think it ran gts4 4.3:1 instead of the factory 3.6:1

plus epic close ratio gearbox

Thanks :(

I thought the box was just a getrag though and the change was to the diffs and a carbon shaft?!

    • Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛
    • Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it
    • Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!
    • Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.
    • Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
