A bit out there, but I've got a 1gb HD5770 that I'd like to replace with an older and slower 1gb GT250 due to incompatibilities with the Hackintosh I'm building.

The Radeon supports DirectX 11, has HDMI out and supports Crossfire/PCI 2.0 etc. Unfortunately Mac OSX only supposrts the 4000 series of Radeons and the Geforce's.

I'll also consider a GeForce 9800. 1GB RAM preferred. I'm in VIC, but I can post it with orignal packaging.

Saves me having to go out and spend $150 on a new video card and having to shelf my existing one.

Are you trading your card for the slower card plus cash or just seeing if someone can hook you up free?

HD5770's a newer card than the GT250, so just straight swap. Bought it a 3 weeks ago from MSY. $170 for HD5770 and $150 for the GT250. Basically offering a free upgrade to whoever has a GT250.

I may be able to source one for you, I might have one lying around in the shop. If I find one, you can keep your card and I'll send you it for free.

oooo that would be epic.

you're building a Mac.

FAIL

I'm building a PC to dualboot Win7 and OSX. The only reason I'm installing OSX is so that can use the iPhone SDK instead of some abstraction layer to develop iPhone/iPad apps. Not like I'm a fan of rounded edges on windows or single mouse buttons.

A 5770 is going to struggle to run 3 monitors you know?

A 5850 is what you need for reasonable eyefinity performance

Thats the only issue with Eyefinity, whilst it does look all nice and shit, the mid-range cards simply can't run the games with all the reasonable candy on so it's kinda like "whats the point" :(

It's the only reason I've still got my 4890 as well... until the 5850 gets under around $280-$300 i'll hold onto my 4890!

Then add in the cost of two (or 3) monitors... lol oh jebus that's going to be expensive

well im wanting it more for the desktop work use, but if i got back into gaming again id just buy another and run crossfire or run it on my middle 32" which is big enough anyways i have a 22" on its side next to it, wouldn't mind getting another for the other side.

Leme know if you want the 4890 mate, its a HIS as well :D still got box and all.

Is it this one?

Are you using it atm? Can I pick it up and see if it works in my rig? A bit skeptical about ATI cards and OSX, but apparently the 4800 series is rumoured to work.

what boot loader you using?

We have to set up our Macs here to dual boot WinXP since Win7 isn't compatible with ReFit. Might just be easier to buy a s/h 20" imac or something and just throw Snow Leopard on it rather than stuffing around with different hardware configs etc.

yeah the idea of a mac mini did appeal to me, all up this process has cost me a couple of days and $30 for an official Apple Snow Leopard disc. If the costs to get this done go over $300 then I'll probably get a mini.

I've got it dualbooting and working so far on the standard VESA driver. its a little laggy though, hence the desire to get some hardware acceleration instead of relying on the CPU to calculate the framebuffer.

boot loader? not sure. Think it's kalyway?

meh I don't know a great deal about them, it's better that way, but the amount of f**king around to get them to talk to a Windows based domain controller is ridiculous!

AFAIK, our devs use Windows machines to do all the programming of our propietary app anyway.
