Hence another reason why people should be signing up for the SAU:SA membership

Track days, Grand Openings, Dyno Days, Dawn/Breaky cruise, Birthday dinners....so far things are looking good

how funny do the barrier skirts look on the gorge

I'm thankful someone is doing something. They're to protect sliding motorcyclists from hitting the armco posts. I've seen first hand how much damage those barriers can do to a sliding human body. :) They cater for cars, not motorcycles. Those 'skirts' are an awesome idea. Not the greatest things on earth, but better than nothing.

:P

hahahah riders should slow down :P

but, i see good idea then

Yeah, definitely a good idea. I remember some years ago seeing a guy badly smash up his legs, with multiple compound fractures. Saw the whole crash and stuck around for about half an hour holding the broken pieces together waiting for the ambulance to hurry up and get there, and trying to keep the guy alive. He survived, but lost one leg. If those barriers (skirts) were in place, he might have stood a better chance of keeping his leg and minimising his internal injuries.

Those wire barriers are far far worse. :( There is not much on the roads that are motorcyclist friendly.

I've lost two friends at the gorge (and thats just the tip of the iceberg). I've got other mates who still ride thru there taking unnecessary risks, but they are amazing roads and sometimes even I get caught up in the moment. Recently I've had two friends crash along the gorge and the other roads around the area. Yes, motorcyclists should slow down ... but most and young and invincible. Its great to see that the MRA (Motorcycle Riders Association) take the safety risks of the barriers seriously and have done something about it.

The email form seems to work for some and not for others, its strange, and i really cant work it out. Fill the form and and mail it in, or alternatively, print it off and hand it to any of the exec members. A couple of outings i can think of are Kadina, or a few of us will be at Repco Modbury on Saturday 5th June. Money can be paid through bank transfer, via paypal, cheque, or cash. :)

Yeah, but I know an individual who does 200km/h+ on part of the Gorge every Sunday morning and has never had a visit from the fuzz .... there is almost no part of the Gorge where he would do under the speed limit ....
