Hey guys. Currenlt have a neo RB25 with 3076 with 4bolt garret .63 housing, running 1.3 bar thro it and making 310 rwkw. While it makes good power the midrange torque is a little lacking so i was thinking of a set of Poncams and chucking them in. I see that they lists the two types so i may as well go for the 260's straight away.

my question is. do i need adjustable gears for these to get the best results? i dont want to loose the vct on it so maybe just get an adjustable gear on the exhaust cam?

has anyone had any decent results from poncams in a neo engine with a larger turbo?

depends on how much time you get to play with them dyno wise, i spent about 2-3 hours playing with cams in a std r33 with no vct to get gains every where. If you have the time to play then do it, if not std ftw.

yeah dont mind spending the time.. but my real question is if tomei pon cams are suppose to be a drop in solution am i just better off putting them in with stock gears or would it be worth spending the time and just going for an adjustable gear on the exhaust side.

my last 25 i ran gtr cams reground to 260's and with stock gears they were no good.. but with some time spent adjusting aftermarket cam gears we saw gains everywhere.

On the stagea the 260deg type B's made more power everywhere (sorry I don't have a pre/post dyno) with HKS GT-RS. Somewhere in the 10-20kw range depending on where you looked. All with stock cam gears.

The seat of the pants dyno feels says more everywhere especially down low where I was worried about losing grunt especially with the big tub of a car to push around.

Is it worth it??? I think due to the gains down low (that would only be even better with a larger turbo than the GT-RS) I would say yes if you have money to spend you are looking at fattening up the area under the curve.

The caveat is that I am assuming that the tuning was as thorough on the pre-cams tune as the post-cams tune but same tuner same dyno.

    • Evening fam, Pretty much what the title asks, I have looked all over and can’t find a proper answer expect one post from almost a decade ago which is vague. ive seen photos and they look pretty much identical, would an r33 GTR N1 reo work on an r32? reason I ask is they are cheaper to buy… $700 compared to 1k+ for an r32 n1 reo

    • Yeah was thinking that. I've had the car go lower idle possibly around 650rpm every once in a long time after pouring fuel and would sound quite rough like a misfire, almost like it's shit fuel or something but who knows.
    • @Wazmond you are correct, my bad, was not my intent    https://www.facebook.com/share/15ZMn5oXtc/ Updated Event (so its not private and can be shared easier)  Attempting to coordinate a big push of Stagea's to this years GTR Festival. Great event last year and hoping for the same this year.    I've emailed them to ask to set a location aside for the Stageas for the show and shine - they are happy to do so if we can get them numbers, I'm happy to keep track of that. Entering as Nismo category.    I'll be road tripping up from Melbourne, would be cool to convey if people are interested, maybe there is SAU convoys from each capital? If you have ideas about that let me know.    https://gtrfestival.com.au
